I think it's ignorant to pretend that Leigh Anne being black hasn't played a part in her music not getting as much support as Perrie's has. Leigh Anne's first two songs were absolute bangers that deserved better.

I'm sorry? Perrie has not even released until tomorrow morning. Her team have decided to invest by doing a 2 month long campaign on social media which everyone has been slating her for before today. We know how this will perform yet.

Leigh had extensive radio support and had promo everywhere during DSL's release. Her team even got her magazine covers with publications such as Rolling Stone, helped her get awards such as Glamours musician of the year (despite releasing two songs). Her label invested.

Leigh was the least popular member of the three and has faced years of prejudice, I agree. To say she had less industry support is simply untrue.

This is cute but nothing special

Where's Jade tho? I feel like I'll enjoy her solo material the most

Check out the Jade thread some people that claim to have heard the song have given their thoughts. The music video is apparently filmed!

I didn't want to derail this thread, my only observation was that if this somewhat basic and generic song smashes and other members' with similarly decent songs don't, I don't know what to say.  I mean this could be sung by Anne Marie, Rita Ora, Kelsea Ballerina, etc. so I would be curious to her her second single to see what kind of identity she is carving out.

It's not really clicking for me ngl, maybe after hearing it more on TikTok it'll stick. it is a bop and isn't a bad song by any means but can't say I love it

Yes yes yes, this is it! :jonny5:

This is how you come in strong with a first single. I could even picture Little Mix singing it, hearing Jade, Leigh-Anne and Jesy on it.
Also, why was my first thought that it sounded like 2007-2012 pop? I really miss this kind of pop with catchy, explosive choruses. It kind of gave me Teenage Dream vibes

I'm so glad you love it! Teenage Dream vibes is so true!! :jonny6:

This is the strongest LM solo offering so far

I really do  Also, speaking of Teenage Dream - this is how I imagined Daisies by Katy to turn out. But it's giving more Teenage Dream vibes.

Also, people can call it "generic" or "basic" all they want in here, but for me it's instant and catchy and this is exactly what all of them should've went with sonically. And I'm not saying this to petty the girls against each other, but you need something that gives an instant, catchy impression when you release a first single. I feel like Jesy's and Leigh-Anne's releases are more laid back, which is not bad, but we see how it went (even with all the promo Leigh-Anne had).

Furthermore, it's another great example for how a song should build up more and more with an explosive, heavy instrumental last chorus and great ad lips as a climax (which a lot of Little Mix songs have as well).

Imo, this will do much better than the first singles from Jesy and Leigh.
I really hope Jade will go the same direction as Perrie.

This has the potential to become a summer song and landing in the UK Top 5 next week for sure.

I don't like it, the verses are weird (?) idk. The chorus is good.

I hope it's a grower but i liked Leigh-Anne's singles way more :katie:

Still rooting for her though!

We're not doing that here, the song is already better than what Leigh-Anne has released and she had insane radio support. Perrie's voice is another level, so if she does well it is because of that and the quality of her music.

Leigh-Anne's 'My Love' is way better than this, I know you will disagree but imo it's true. Perrie's song is such a safe choice and doesn't bring anything new to the table. It could've easily been a LM song from Glory Days. Will it smash? Probably, I hope so, but let's not pretend this wasn't such an A&R pick as a first single, it's a faceless, digestible pop record, Ed Sheeran co-written, with lyrics that could allude to her relationship with Zayn. Nothing crazy production wise or even vocally.

its been on replay for a few hours now. she has a smash in her hands.

We'll agree to disagree as I genuinely find My Love a basic bop that was safe. I found that and DSL pretty faceless.

DSL was extremely safe in itself and could have been anyone.

We all have different opinions and that is fine.

Forget About Us sounds very different to what is currently out there in the UK but it is radio friendly in the aspect it is a catchy bop.

Still no formal announcement of the MV? Is it coming tomorrow?

I'm pretty sure it is as they showed a 10 second teaser on Jonathan Ross according to the fans in the audience.

I'm sure we'll get the video announcement tonight.

Thats your opinion. Agree to disagree gave the song  1 stream only and it was clear it was not going to be a hit. No identity and bad rnb for d listers or unsigned artists' demos. This screams smash hit. Anthemic catchy with a big HOOK.  leigh anne's song wasnt a snooze sza caliber hit or had a memorable hook. Safe is good Perrie is restarting her career at 30 years old she needs hits to actually put out an album.  Perrie has celine dion/whitney  level vocal chops she deserves grammys and ww recognition.

'My Love'... rnb? Also, I never said anything about 'Forget About Us' not being a hit, it clearly has all the ingredients.

Leigh-Anne did what she had to, her songs are true to herself and are good songs even if they flopped.

Is this a really bland safe uk radio fodder? Yes. Is it still a cute bop? Yes. Did we expected anything else from the most popular girl from the band? No.

Let's just allow each other to enjoy different things while we wait for the real showstopping moment that Jade will deliver :alexz:
