Right? Mariah’s second decade is massive and that’s hard to achieve when sales were declining and she was already tons of albums in and radios were being paid to sabotage her. The world was stacked against her and she ended up with the single of the decade in the U.S.

But you voted Mariah in the poll lol. And that's what I thought too but is it really a close race when all of those Madonna albums were successful while Mariah had some straight up bombs, and two successful eras?

It's not a close race at all, I'm sorry. TEOM did great but it wasn't a ROL sized smash by any means and the rest of Mariah's albums can barely catch up to Madonna's "flop" eras during the 90's.

 

Ray Of Light = 21,507,000

Bedtime Stories = 11,855,000

I'm Breathless = 12,698,000

Erotica = 9,330,000

Evita = 7,712,000

 

Emancipation = 11,104,000

Glitter 2,256,000 + Chambracelet 3,021,000 + E=MC² 3,347,000 + Memoirs 2,333,000 = 10,957,000

 

And then you have to take into account Madge's touring success, business ventures (Maverick), occasional hit movies (A League Of Their Own, Dick Tracy, Truth Or Dare, Evita) and celebrity status.

Even Madonna's greatest hits album alone is higher than Mariah's discography combined.

Wow you came through with the receipts  I didn't think the gap was THAT big between ROL and TEOM. And not the rest of Mariah's discography combined being on par with Madonna's "flops".
