I hope she stays in the lane of fun/generic pop music instead of the boring "I want my critically acclaimed album in my 20s".

I'm tired of the wannabe songwriters of the decade, the biggest names in pop were dragged by critics early in their careers, but nobody cared. 

I love her music

Been saying it since "feel like ****" came out, she has some one of the best pop songs released this decade (ybmf and fls) and she's a great dancer, lots of potential. She is, to me, one of the most promising new pop artists right now. Absolutely happy for her success, she deserves for all the hard work she's been putting.

Also it’s very telling she’s getting this praise while Tinashe, Chloe, Normani, etc were dragged and insulted for being talented performers/artists (Tinashe and Chloe moreso than Toot McFart)

She’s very commercial and safe, but I think we need a girlie like that that can also dance her ASS off and can actually serve some c*nt in the process. A lot of those other TIK tok girlies do the bare minimum, at least Ms. McRae puts effort into her stuff, at least that’s what I get from her. I will Stan if she gives more bops like greedy 

She's cute but I can't stand her my indie kitchen baby voice so I don't really listen to her music but I wish her all the best! 

I'll try not to hold the fact that she's from Alb*rta against her, too. 

As someone who admittedly can be ot of touch with the newcomers these days I did notice her quite early on. She's very likable, and You Broke Me First, Tear Myself Apart, All My Friends Are Fake, Lie To Me, Rubberband, Wish I Loved You In The 90s and Slower are all great.

I thought her debut album was rather average at best though, and the change in sound seemed forced, but I like where she is going now with 10:35, Greedy and Exes being very good.

She is fine, talented but she isn't all that that's being said. 

+ she has this kind of voice that... you know...

Her voice is literally made for TikTok and it's impressive to see how she's been benefiting from the app.

 

I like her new music but also wondering if she's here to stay.

To be honest, i'm quite shocked that she skyrocketed to this level of discussion in what seems like a matter of weeks, when I thought she would stay in her Billie-lite lane for the rest of her career considering it worked for her with You broke me first. However, Tate (and her team) deciding to switch up her identity and level up is something I wasn't expecting from her, at least this early on. Yes, the machine is clearly pushing a pop girl who can perform and we've been robbed of that in the pop music field for a while, more specifically after Doja Cat decided to stop making cash grabs.   Which is ironically also probably the moment when RCA figured they needed to push someone else from the label to the spotlight. On subject of her being compared to other performers, Tate is already semi-established which is why she picked up so much steam compared to other girls like Normani or Chloe who either lost all momentum or didn't know what to do with it.  I will say, the "industry plant" allegations are really baseless and dumb when girlie has been signed to the label for years and literally put out an album last year.  The only difference this time around is a bigger investment and image shift. Let's see if she knows what to do with it. 

Voice is bad.

 

Dancing is OK. 

 

Not sure what else there is to talk about. 

I love her shes a professional dancer and can sing decent. I wish her the best of luck. Her debut was on repeat in 2022.

Never heard of her until like last week - on ATRL 

 

Listened to her "live" performance and her singing style is obnoxious lol what am I missing?

Her lil pre-greedy hits I listened to all made me cringe. Whoever adviced her to abandon the faux deepness and go Britney is a genius. There's a huge hole in the market when it comes to that archetype and she's the first of the new generation to attempt it. Millenials missed that so they're naturally drawn to her due to nostalgia. Gen Z only got to witness that through archival videos so to see one of their own do it in real time is exciting for them as well.

The music doesn't appeal to me. A lot of the threads here about her feel phony.

Her music ages like milk and greedy is probably going to be the only success shes going to see in a long time, good dancer tho

Doja and Tate are on the same label? That makes total sense tbh. Tate is the best performer we’ve seen since 2020 Doja, but now Doja doesn’t wanna do all the pop girl choreo and stuff

her vocal tone is grating but i'm hoping her success will usher in a new era of popstars who can actually dance/perform
