This sounds very similar to Dark Horse, but DH reached #1 around winter early 2014. The actual song Black Widow released around July, but was blocked from the top spot later in the fall by All About that Bass and Shake it Off. However, with a high profile feature like Katy instead of Rita Ora, I feel like the song could have raced up the charts more quickly before Shake It Off arrived while not competing with Dark Horse (which was out of the top 10 already by the summer I think).

Dark Horse was already pretty edgy by her standards and Black Widow goes even further. I think this could have been a hit for her but I'm not sure a #1.

I agree. But if Rita Ora could get it to #3, I feel like adding Katy would have only made the song bigger. It definitely wasn't dethroning Shake it Off because that song was way too massive. But it probably could have shot to #1 with a radio deal and good timing. All About that Bass was slowing down at the end of the summer and SIO hadn't arrived yet, so that would have been the perfect time.

Legendary Lovers should have been her 10th number one.

I think that this would have been similar to what happened to Ariana with Focus.  It would have felt like a soulless copy of the last hit and the people would have said no.

Definitely a hit. Not sure if it'd be a #1 though..maybe.

Dark Horse - Walking On Air - Legendary Lovers - Black Widow.. she should have released them in this order. WOA, LL, BW all would have went at least Top 5. 2014 could have been her year. It‘s crazy to think things went in the opposite direction instead…

Get On Your Knees with Katy as a single in 2014 would've been such a moment
