Hey, Hitmakers! We've reached the second page (organically, mind you #nopromo #nopayola), and it's time for the first announcement of the season.

If you didn't already notice in the OP, or this is your first time seeing the thread, we have a slight amendment to the format this season—an exciting one!

This season we’re bringing an exciting adjustment to the game’s format to encourage even more adventurous songwriting. This season, we will be taking the average of each writer’s top 5 scores to determine the winner of the season. This allows writers to take a week off to gain inspiration, or take additional risks without fear of taking a hit in the rankings. We want you to enjoy the game and challenge yourself as much as possible!

Can't submit for one week due to personal commitments? Simply aren't inspired by a challenge? Want to take a big risk, but afraid it won't pay off and impact your chances of ranking high?

None of these circumstances will inhibit your ability to compete in this season and have just as much of a shot at the title of "Golden Hitmaker" as anyone else. That's pretty neat, huh?!

Even if you wish to participate in the season in full and submit six excellent songs, only your top five scorers will contribute to your season average, but your sixth will still be scored and ranked.

 

For the first (and final, unless you sign up) time this season, we call one and all past Golden Hit (and some older writers!) players to sign-up for this season. It'll be great fun!

Whew, just finished a 12-hour day of rehearsals for my The First Place • Second Wind • Third Wish • Fourth Tour, life as a main pop girl certainly is hard sometimes!

Fantastic to have you @réveuse, excited to see what you bring to the table! Also hopeful to see you @JonginBey, I know the timing of other seasons hasn't worked out well for you but perhaps this will be the one!

 

We appreciate the positive words, @Element! Hopefully the scoring shift this season will be beneficial to all. While we don't envision it will greatly impact who ultimately wins this tournament, we're hoping it does encourage more diversity and overall participation from anyone who may already know they cannot commit to six consecutive challenges. Who knows, if it works out, it may become a new standard for Golden Hit going forward?
