Released on Aug 19, 2008, Lady Gaga's debut studio album The Fame turns 15 today!

 

The album spawned 4 Top 10s including 2 #1s (Just Dance and Poker Face, both certified Diamond to date) and was nominated for a total of six GRAMMY Awards including Album of the Year, winning two eventually (Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording for Poker Face).

Happy birthday legend I remember buying my copy in early 2009 and then gifting it to a girlie in my class who loved Gaga but couldn't afford it, and then buying a new one myself. Gaga inspired me to be a better person.

That’s how I’d rank the songs. I’ve really grown to appreciate the album more over time. I don’t agree with the idea of it being “dated” in a bad way. It’s such a defining album of the late 2000s in a positive way, while still being relatively forward thinking. The singles are all iconic, and Starstruck would’ve been a smash as well.

Damn I feel so old.... has it really been 15 years. God damn 

this era was a moment suspended in time all around the world. in the moment you dont really have much to say about it, but reflecting on that era… what a global phenomenon. the hits were all amazing, the fame ball tour was iconic. like who grosses $280M on their DEBUT tour? who gets 7 top 10 hits in their debut album? Countless iconic looks and red carpet / award show moments too. Being compared to MADONNA on your debut album??? Nahh thats insane. 

 

Gaga you marked your impact and legacy on pop culture history with your debut album. one of the most revolutionary works in pop history and up there with iconic works like Thriller and True Blue.
