Rush - What Went Wrong?

Featured Replies

It’s currently free falling sitting at 168 on Spotify in the US and not even charting on Apple Music.

It debuted at 77 on Hot 100 and has left the chart serving 77-OUT.

Wasn’t Rush supposed to be Troyes breakthrough song onto the US market? It feels like it came and went. Why did people lose interest so quick?

The visuals were the main course and while the song was great, It felt like a side dish. The song felt amazing and fresh at first but then the chorus feels nauseating, I guess its because its basically a football chant ñol

like i said from the very beginning. the song simply wasn't good. i dont care if it got best new music from pitchfork. it sounded extremely generic from the get go. nothing special about the song.

It’s a great song. It’s not his fault Americans have bad taste in music.

The song had a messy rollout with the +1 month teasing. It still ended up being his highest debut ever on the Hot 100. It had great reception in our community and its still pulling cute numbers on Spotify. As long as he keeps the hype going, his album will have cute numbers and acclaim.

Not really a Troye stan, but lets be real. A song (and video) so unabashedly gay was never gonna become a huge smash. I've seen you in the single thread trying to start **** and trolling. Yall can never root for a fellow ******?

Troye never had mainstream appeal, so I don't think anything went wrong? The song made noise where it was meant to do = gays and clubs. It's a great bop.

Who even said that?

the chanting got annoying real quick, it missing sth idk

He should have released the extended version from the start. It's too short and forgettable when you blink and it's over.

its his most successful song. he said the views/streams guaranteed him the budget for a new single.

he's doing great for a queer artist releasing songs with queer-centric themes.

the football hooligan chant on the chorus literally always sounded awkward #idk

This.

I really really really wanted to like it but there's some sort of Olly-Alexander-King-esque punch missing.

Its a gay hit and created interest for an album. It went right. Troye is not an a-list.

Can he sing that song live like the record and promote it? also the music video doomed it from the start, however it seems he doesn’t want mainstream success, so nothing went wrong.
