A typical generic Adele ballad

It’s a simple piano ballad with a simple chord structure, yes, but it’s done beautifully. And not many songs in the love songs pop cannon tackle this subject the way Adele does. Rather than yearning for lost love or feeling resentful, she’s simply asking for a bit of empathy and compassion which is a think refreshing to hear.

 

Now the rest of 30, much of it is certainly NOT generic and in fact does tread jazz/complex territory with Strangers By Nature, My Little Love, Cry Your Heart Out,  All Night Parking, Love Is A Game, etc. The album doesn’t get enough credit by certain pop fans for how deep and rich 30 really is.

It's easy to be generic and boring and Easy On Me is not that - those opening piano notes alone

no, there isn't many songs like that charting at the moment.

 

it's not terribly original either and very safe for Adele, but it's not bad

Her best album. "Easy On Me" was not a good preview of what was to come. We love 30!

is as generic as Lover (single), but that doesn’t make them any less good

No, it’s a beautiful song, and part of her best album.
