in my opinion, the concept of this era and album was exactly what she’s been saying. it’s her playing up everything that everyone has been saying about her. scarlet is the girl people think doja is aka an evil, annoying, fake, devil *****, which is why we have her covered in blood like a horror movie. its why we have demons/demon imagery to play up the devil worshipper comments and the album cover is a spider, which some believe to have a spiritual connection that could tie into, again, the devil worshipper thing but also spiders are just creepy & weird creatures that some people think are just misunderstood like doja herself most of the time. 
 

idk if that makes sense to y’all but this is how i've always thought of it all/interpreted it in my mind, especially given the lyrical content throughout the album.

I honestly don't think it sounds all that different from her previous stuff, but it is definitely less pop (people who love the album will say she pissed her pop stans off, but tbh anyone who's listened to a Doja album in full shouldn't be surprised by anything here). The album itself is solid, but I don't think "Demons" and "Paint the Town Red" fit on here at all, and the Satanic imagery while entertaining and controversial for whatever reason kinda feels a bit dissonant to what most of the album is (chill, laid-back).

love my barbz even though they're biased anyway but always the first to tune in along with us. it's okay just wait for the switching when the album A. officially drops B. gets acclaimed and C. does numbers 

 

This like an epitome of Doja Cat. There's a little bit of everything she's served throughout her career, but certanly with a little less pop appeal. It does sound like a double CD. My favorites after first listen are FTG, Ouchies, 97, Often and Love Life. I really liked all of it, the R&B elements are simply immaculate and the way she mixes them with Hip Hop is very pleasing because it has a lot of that lo-fi chill vibe she had in Prrr/Amala. Dare I say I enjoyed the second half more, even though the first one is great really. 

Just heard the whole thing, really enjoyed it !
