One of my fave songs on the album

We should be proud of ourselves for stanning ART not NUMBERS

I love every single song but Gun & Free Style. This might be my favorite album of the year.

I love the album. I feel similar to others who have said it’s not perfect, but it’s so good! It’s different than anything out. I’m so proud of her!

I do feel she didn’t live up to her full potential in terms of flow and lyricism. I totally understand the artistic choices for instance the 2nd verse of demons or the first verse of Agora hills. She could have hit harder on the flows, but she was more experimental and subdued. I respect it.

The last half of the album after Can't Wait is painfully boring as hell. :noparty:

After my second listen I'm more into this.

The only songs I won't be using are Often and Love Life.

A strong 6 at that. And yes, a strong 6 is a good score for Doja Cat considering Fantano gave Hot Pink a 4 and Planet Her a 5.

People think Fantano hates Doja Cat, and that couldn't be further from the truth. He loved the single Tia Tamera, he loved the singles Rules and Bottom B-, and he loved Paint the Town Red, Demons (he originally was mixed on it but he said in the Scarlet review the track grew on him), Balut, Agora Hills, Woman, and Kiss Me More. And now he likes Scarlet.

I would give this album a light 7, but that's just me. I liked it a bit more than Fantano, but I would agree the first half of Scarlet is stronger than the second half. I also prefer the standard to the extended because I feel like the bonus tracks don't add to the project & it makes Scarlet more bloated.

Still haven’t listened all the way thru but I lowkey love Balut. I try to only have three songs per artist on my playlist so I went to remove it when I added AH and I just couldn’t :jonnycat:

Gun through Agora Hills is perhaps her best track run of her career :celestial6:

I really don’t understand why Freestyle was added last minute though, to me Balut was such a good closer :biblionny:

Does anyone get Consideration vibes from Can’t Wait? It’s my current obsession :jonny5:

The album is just too good.

da 1-2 punch of AH & CW is R&B greatness

Agora Hills is so GOOD but when I realize it’s about her man it turns me off instantly :rip: I keep trying to ignore the lyrics and just enjoy the beat/her delivery because they’re amazingly done.

ouchies, wet ******, ftg and can’t wait are the standouts and now I don’t see anything coming for them apart of the released tracks which are 10/10s.

lol don't think of him and relate to da lyrics lol

but i so understand u lol

The album isn't bad. There's some cool production and great moments from Doja. But it definitely isn't stellar, either.

Her vision was to lean more toward hip-hop and be taken seriously as a rapper from what I understand? But she's rapping about absolute nonsense for the better part of the album. Not that we look to Doja for any deep, introspective narrative but if she's not going to have much to say, I at least expected it be lyrically impressive... which most of it is not. A lot of the lyrics range from basic to cringe to what I would hear a white suburban middle school girl freestyle at the lunch table. On top of that, her flow, delivery, and overall charisma also all take a huge step back from her previous work, which all made her one of the more interesting artists to check out IMO. What, of anything, redeeming is leftover?

Ouchies is a standout, 97 is the closest to what I initially thought she'd be going for with this album, Agora Hills was a nice change of pace, and there are some nice vibes on the second half but even on those, the pen game is a dragggggg.

In a nutshell the impression left was some great production, impressive versatility, cringe lyrics, and repetitive song structures and choruses. You can tell she wrote this entire thing solo.

You can feel her passion and tell she's trying to prove something, but I'm not sure if she even knows exactly what she's trying to prove. The majority of the album seems very empty and aimless. A waste of some killer album rollout aesthetics.

I think the question should be asked on what exactly she is trying to prove though? For the most part, the GP just takes the bops and the image that she presents at that time, whether its pop girl, sex icon, alien, demon etc. So I think a lot of the outrage, most of which she brings upon herself, is really just aimed back at... herself, and the small percentage of **** talkers on the internet she has chosen to hyperfixate on. I think a lot of people are still confused as to why she feels the need to prove herself when she's already established as an industry hitmaker. "Rap" music or not. It also hurts her in the long run because it's not really relatable to anybody lol
