In honour of her Celebration Tour coming this tour, let's discuss and rank M's iconic and influential world tours.

 

 

the run from Drowned World - Reinvention - Confessions - Sticky & Sweet is literally perfect, but Confessions takes the cake for me. The setlist was perfect, the staging was simple but effective and beautiful, the dancers were on point and her energy was incredible.

Confessions period. 

Mine constantly changes but I think it is:

 

1. Reinvention Tour: this might be one of Madonna's least technically complex tours (still more complex than most pop girls tours) but her performance level and charisma here are out of this world. From the bridge position opening to (one of Madonna's best performance of all time) her Nobody Knows Me solo cvnt serve to the military set, it's really good. The only thing I don't like from this tour is her Deeper and Deeper performance, but that's because that song is perfect as it is.

 

2. Confessions Tour: this is only second because she is significantly less physical in this tour vs Reinvention tour but visually it's her most beautiful and the setlist might be her best, with the encore being great for once and not a Holiday / Music rehash. Feels different to most of her other tours because of the setlist being so different

 

3. Blonde Ambition Tour: the tour that shaped pop music touring. Her two first sets are pure perfection and S class. Sadly, the same thing cannot be said about her weird accent during Material Girl. Cherish and Keep It Together are highlights of the second part of the show tho

 

4. Drowned World Tour: Some people don't rate this tour as high and I can't understand why. Yes, the "Music" segment is kinda lame but the punk and ninja sets are pure perfection. Again, as it happens with most of her tours, the latin segment feels weird and out of place, and this is her tour where it sticks out the most

 

5. Tie between the MDNA Tour and Sticky and Sweet. The MDNA tour is a masterpiece of staging and visuals but her dancing is definitely worse than in the Sticky and Sweet tour, where we see Madonna almost reach the dancing heights of the Reinvention Tour. MDNA tour has a good first set. Sticky and Sweet has by far the best Madonna Latin/Spanish set despite the ridiculousness of mixing so many cultures in just an act. La Isla Bonita is the highlight of the S&S tour while I'm Addicted is the one for the MDNA tour

 

6. Rebel Heart: feels like a worse version of the MDNA tour. The "Tokyo" set is boring, although there's some good things on it: the visuals are impeccable although repetitive and some mixes are cool (Vogue / Holy Water)

 

Haven't seen the Virgin, Who's That Girl or the Madame X tours but I've seen parts of the Madame X tour and it feels like an even smaller version of the MDNA or Rebel Heart tour.

Re-Invention followed by MDNA 

The first act from the MDNA tour might be my favorite bit of her ever, but I don't think the rest of the show held up. 

 

In total my favorite is probably Confessions Tour as well. I have never seen an energy like that again.

Girlie or Confessions. MDNA as runner-up (could've been her best with a better setlist).

Confessions for me but Girlie Show and Blonde Ambition should be celebrated 

It's between Confessions and Sticky & Sweet for me, but Girlie Show and Reinvention have a special place in my heart.

Blond Ambition, she could dance back then, it was minimalistic compared to later tours but more artistic
