Well, Bette Midler literally told Adele that she couldn't do it. A friend's advice, you know. But it's because she's lazy, not that she doesn't have a voice for it. And a plenty of Adele's songs would work in a musical as they are. So it's not a stretch to think she could write something original for Broadway. And let that community decide what they think about Adele. Don't feel offended on their behalf. Let's see how they respond to this comment.

Loved this bit! Wish Adele released records more often...

She's honest about it, Adele might think that she needs to make an original score or act in a musical to win it and those are not the only ways to win it. There's the possibility of someone in the future makes a musical about her or her albums and she could get credited as a producer of that and win it. Many EGOT have got it that way.

And @Thinking Of You, today is Barbara Streisand's birthday, so I really don't think the intent was to disrespect the musical theater community. And it was James who provocated Adele to say it by being like "You hate musicals" first.

Couldn’t even do 3 minutes and the 3 minutes I watched was a lot of fast forwarding but once they were singing RITD I was done. 
 

adele seems to always be in character. She doesn’t come off genuine at all and I’m not fully convinced this new Adele is the same one as the chunky Adele but maybe it is. I feel like she had a fat suit on this whole time actually, so maybe it is the same Adele.

Yes, but you need good support to project your voice. She was yelling her way through this.  It was all coming from her throat, it looked borderline painful. I love her, but I don't understand why she's still got such poor technique.

Adele belting like that while sitting down is very difficult. I hope that she doesn't have any more vocal troubles like she had in the past but right now she sounds fantastic.
