Should Billboard Allow Bundling Again

Featured Replies

After the rule changes of 2020, sales fell off significantly. Not to mention, artists were no longer incentivised to release vinyl, cd and merch exclusives anymore since they had to ship during the tracking week. Before the rule change, many artists would release many cd, vinyl and merch exclusives with digital downloads. The most famous example of this would be Taylor's 8 folklore vinyl and cd variants, along with all of the merch such as a guitar, another being Ariana and Justin's stuck with u vinyl, cd and cassette variants and Gaga's jockstrap bundles.

My fave is fine without bundling so no.

Your fav is Legend Xtine but you hide under a Taylor pfp. So no, your fav is not fine without bundles.

Bundles with merch no.

But physicals should count as a sale when they’re purchased and not when they’re shipped.

Labels are delaying albums and scheduling releases a year in advance because the vinyl plants are clogged. This affects mostly indie artists.

There ARE anomalies when quality is produced.

I would take Xtinas screeching over Myah or Cathy singing for Britney but i don't listen to Christina and find her discog MID. Y'all thinking I would suffer through a Legend X Album :toofunny2:

Maybe a certain female artist would release music again if she could bundle her album with her makeup kits :monkey:

No, bundles (with merch) will only cover up the fact that sales fell off but the situation will not change.

i agree. it created the illusion that artists were selling more albums than they actually were. it's just interesting to see how many artists relied on it to hold up their sales and how much more / better vinyl, cd and merch variants we got before the 2020 rule changes

nah not at all. people who can sell are gonna sell regardless

Taylor would literally debut with like 4M if had tour bundles :deadbanana2:

No, legacy acts shouldn't have inflated sales due to tour bundles.

probably more tbh with all of the potential vinyl and merch bundles

It is kinda sad to see artists selling only like 25,000 copies in a week so yeah I think bundles should return. Artists work so hard on their music and for them to be shamed for not selling much is just sad to see. Bundles at least help them feel happier about the situation which I root for. We should be pushing happiness instead of celebrating when someone "flops".

I DON’T see Britney releasing anytime soon soo it doesn’t matter.
