is Taylor a risk taker?

Featured Replies

If Taylor going from Country to Pop to Folk isn't "risky" then no one is a risk taker :toofunny2:

Will ATRL ever stop creating some delusional thread to cry about Taylor's power every other month?

1. Jump from country to pop
2. Removing her catalog from Spotify
3. folklore/evermore
4. Re-Recordings

All these are probably a bigger risk than whatever your basic favs have ever done but don't worry you can keep crying I guess is hard for OTHs in times like this:coffee2:

my god :deadbanana:

I just don't see any risk taken from her, musically speaking. She always takes the safest road, and it has paid off, there's nothing wrong with that

If it was so easy everyone would be bigger than her right lol???

You guys really don't understand what safest road is??

She is successful == She is basic is what some people think here

Sam took risk and is now trashed by straights and gays so tell me again why should she take risks? She is good as she is

I would really like to know what these supposed risk the other MPGs are taking???

Cause no one in real world knows about these risk or their new music anymore. Must be the social media echo chamber atp

All these people who are saying she did no risk were loving her back during Rep cause they thought she is finally flopping but she didn't so they switched again

What risk has Katy or Gaga taken musically??

Don't tell me about controversial music videos lol

Firstly who talked about gaga?

Secondly what i meant is that katy should've stickied with her sound/producers prior to witness.

She didn't release risky music..just risky decisions.

The question was if Taylor is taking risks.. I answered.. She's not.

Is this a joke? Is going from Prism to Witness a risky decision because she switched producers? :toofunny2:

"Risk" has just become a random word on ATRL that is used to explain why pop girls flopped because of bad music.

Like

Those are bad decisions not risky decisions

There is only 1 MPG that actually took risk and that is Madonna

Most other mpg fail because of bad decisions and bad music not because of risk.

No, she just markets herself impeccably. As people have mentioned - risks are things like Madonna's sexual imagery for Erotica, same with Janet for The Velvet Rope. Tay has done nothing of that nature, but she mastered the sense of business which is perfectly fine. Not everyone needs to be risky.

Talk to em :clap3:

Her re-recordings are her riskiest project yet... she had Forbes, CEOs, endless industry moguls, etc. mocking her and doubting she could get away with it and Taylor made them look like rookie fools.

She has a way of making a whole industry mad, fuming, punching the air and all that :gaylorcat1:

Was it though? Her music was already pop, with only her debut being a definitive country album, which even had pop versions of singles.

If Im not mistaken her first albums were labeled as country/pop right? Taylor was not seen in any way as a pop singer. Didn't she win entertainer of the year at the CMAs?  She was basically labeled a country singer. Thats why I said it was a risk. Completely switching genres and basically abandoning a large segment of what made you popular in the first place is risky (in my opinion). We can argue about the substance of the songs but I wouldnt say she has played it safe her entire career. :michael:

girl, i like her but no :deadbanana4:

even the folkevermore era was crafted so her take on alternative music would sell or be digestible.

We've already got a similar thread just 3 weeks ago, with the same oth peddling the same narrative... This is redundant and should be closed @Ryan

Re-recording all her old albums was risky of her... she could have continued her normal album rollouts and been just fine.

Would her audience support something like that and would it financially pay off? Could they end up sounding worse than the originals? Would she be able to get all the original producers and collaborators to help? Could she run into legal issues? Would she burn more bridges in the industry by taking such a public stance against Scooter and Scott? No one has ever done something like this before, on this scale. Spending so much time on putting out old albums could have easily made people lose interest. There are so many ways the re-recordings could have gone badly, so I say she took a pretty big risk there.

No.

This is the same woman that filmed herself crying cause she didn’t get a grammy nom. Her idol Lana is a risk taker, for reference. Going from cookie cutter Country to accessible basic Pop is not a risk either. Esp. when 90% of your fan base is a bunch of malleable little girls.

*The world eating off Taylor’s whole p*s$y :yum:

ATRL doesn't count switching genres and the massive re-recording projects as risky moves but think changing hair colors and wigs is:cm:

Some of y'all think she doesn't take risks just because she never flops lol
