I have a wedding (as a guest) on the upcoming weeks and I have no idea how to go dressed  I don't want to use the typical black male suit, but what other options are suitable for those types of events?

umm i'd just would wear a simple black dress,

To my sisters wedding weeks ago I wore a dark-blue shirt under a purple suit-jacket, black leather pants and purple moccasin shoes. Together with my purple ring it was a serve that got me  compliments.

I think a non-deep blue suit would be pretty appropriate 

cute coat and jeans.

 

just make sure not to show up in suspenders and a bow tie like most gays do

The suit below looks cute for a special event imo. It’s not the typical black suit etiquette per your demand OP. Plus, it stands out a little bit without being too campy. I’d maybe take this kind of look in consideration.

We need more info. Is it a daytime wedding? Is it happening in the evening? Does it have a dress code? How fancy is the place?

This sounds like a nightmare  The color scheme seems too gauche to work, share some pictures.

ot: just follow the colour scheme of the event. my friends did a forest wedding and I did a deep green and brown outfit. you’ll look good in pictures and won’t stick out like a clown. 

I actually had my wedding at a nude beach in spain, all neutral colour decor, very earthy! family and friends still talk about it. highly recommend.

I’m on the left as you can probably tell. Although I wanted a gorgeous wine-red shirt which was more fitting for the purple jacket but that one was not available sadly. Other than that I’m really happy with the look tho, it’s cute and not boring and even kinda matched with my boyfriend. (On the right)

Not surprised you got compliment considering how the rest of the guys are dressed (most of them wearing jackets a size or two too small is sending me) so as long as you were happy I guess  But the overall look is not it, the shoes sticked out like a sore thumb and a burgundy shirt would not have made it work. Shirt should have been white to pull it all together. Maybe lilac would have worked.

The invite should tell you what the dress attire is. Always safe to just wear a suit a tie though
