Starship, cube, and fnc are kinda permissive when it comes to trainees with social media pages from the big agencies, then most new & small companies don't really object to it. @harrythevifan can talk to you about that one girl having quite a following on TikTok then all of a sudden her account became her group account when she debuted.

Yeah, but I don't remember anyone from BP, aespa, Itzy, Nmixx or NewJennies having an open media profile, and most people assumed she would joing one of these companies (not JYP obvs)

Hybe allowed Chaewon and Sakura to have Instagram account too

YG or SM won't recruit her as she was already an idol not long ago. Don't really know about HYBE, all I know is Hyein from NJ was kinda famous on TikTok and people were always spamming her to auditions for iLand2 and she ended up in New Jeans.

It was child actress Kim Daeun who had a tiktok with 100k+ followers that the company took over.  She also school street casted the group's main vocal.  She's practically an executive over there.

 

The other point is the murky nature of a trainee -- who is for a lack of a better expression property of the agency -- creating content on the company's time that is assumed to be not the property of the company. 

 

Oh My Girl's Hyojung and Mimi have talked quite a bit about the problems they had setting up their SNS/vlogs while under their 2015 trainee contracts.  Back when Mimi was producing her videos, she had to make sure she wasn't abusing company funds for content on her channel.  Hyojung moved out of the the dorms just to make sure the company could make no claims on her youtube channel.

 

Times are different now, but companies probably feel like they have to protect themselves if their investment in idols fail as singers but prove to be successful ig models.

I love Sakura as well but I think this is well deserved. Frankly everytime she sings its either girly as hell or nasal or even both. She doesn't have any resonance in her voice, hardly projects, hell Kazuha despite being a ballet dancer has a very pleasant tone and excels in mixed voice (her lines in Blue Flame are really good)

 

The one thing really holding Sakura back is its clear she ALWAYS sings from her lungs, not her diaphragm.
