It's literally how the K-Pop industry has worked for decades, given the short gaps (compared to western markets) between releases, which makes it harder to produce everything in-house. It's just outsourcing.

umm, that’s what I was literally saying? passing demos is common things - releasing already released songs by other artist - slightly controversial to say the least , especially when we’re talking about the company with a lot of resources 

 

I don’t have anything against demos, but what SM did with Next Level and Rover is not really my cup of tea, even though both songs are better than the original 

 

and they at least added some things to Next Level, Rover is just lazy and it’s embarrassing for an artist that gets one comeback per year  I still like it, but my initial reaction is gone
