flashfox Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Itzy is average at vocals but it's okay since every popular K-pop group has average/ below average vocals except for nmixx and sm groups.
Gaia Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 I do think it’s a little weird we’ve never had any huge female soloist collabs. Taeyeon and IU would be legendary but at this point don’t think it will ever happen. Would have been nice to even have a Taeyeon and Sunmi big collab single at some point but…

Bc how can you make a collaboration with Jpark or JYP, AMBER PARK, Zico when they could slay us with a powerful females duet Even Hyuna and Jessi who were on the same label never collaborated together but they did it with Dawn like who asked??

We know that people are faking streams left and right and it’s gotten to the point where Spotify themselves have joined an anti-fraudulence coalition. Also, IFPI literally started equivalent units back in 2000 so not exactly sure what you’re trying to argue there. But if you really think a $10 album should be worth less in consumption than 20,000+ streams per device per day that nobody is listening to, well…

I think it's so hard to make it as a female soloist that they've been conditioned to view each other as competition. They can like each other, but to work together would help strengthen the other person's brand and I fully believe they've been trained to view that as a bad thing. I don't think it's the companies forbidding it
chiliam Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 itzy new song is good. Hopefully they can pull out a top 10 hit this era

Gaia Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Imagine a collab like this in 2019 with Taeyeon, Sunmi, and IU Sunmi really had a chance to be iconic but idk why her comebacks became so infrequent. Now she feels like a fad of 2017-2020

Because you don't get guaranteed fanbases like males do, they have to actually be hits with the GP. Literally for female soloists in the last decade that have had any major impact and continued comebacks: IU Taeyeon Sunmi Hyuna Hwasa

But if you really think a $10 album should be worth less in consumption than 20,000+ streams per device per day that nobody is listening to, well… an essay: Spoiler it’s not about the worth but popularity and success metric - one person can buy multiple copies of one album and it’s not filtered in Korea, so we don’t have any idea about the real popularity of kpop groups I know blinks are mass buyers too, like all big fandoms, but then you have other stats to back up BP’s status which are record breaking tour numbers and streaming numbers that can fit among main pop acts yes, lizards are mass streaming Money rn and that’s why you don’t see it on the chart, but then BP has multiple songs charting for weeks in the top 50 and topped that chart too - same goes for yt and both platforms have official charts and filter the numbers (most of the kpop acts have a lot of fake numbers under their mvs, but BP is not one of them as their stats there match the yt chart) - tell me how long did Spicy chart in the Spotify top200? two days? oh god, such an improvement from debuting and being out the next day like they did with Girls last year I’m not saying that to put aespa down, they just lack in that department but it’s nothing wrong and it’s the truth! I don’t need to live in denial of them being on top of the kpop world to enjoy their music, same way as I don’t need to pretend that BP is the most talented gg out there to support them and like their output you can agree or not but streaming is the main factor that determines popularity in 2023 and the most popular music consuming method rn majority of the people aren’t listening to their cds and even for the ones who do, it’s still not the main way of consuming music you want me to imagine that 2m people who bought aespa’s albums listen to it on their cd players and aren’t using any streaming platform? you’re not using any streaming platform? also SM acts are the only one who have big album sales but don’t appear on IFPI lists so it’s a bit fishy

How is she higher than any BP Why they are reporting another list? Or your list was for the Yt searches ?
Gaia Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 2 minutes ago, Adama said: Why they are reporting another list? Or your list was for the Yt searches ? Searches aren't always the complete best way to determine anything because there's so many platforms and some artists are strongly associated with their group e.g. Minji was low in search rank on Naver but if you looked up "NewJeans Minji" she was essentially the #1 female idol after NJ debut. So it's pretty hard to get an accurate ranking 1

Lee Know is undeniable the best Stage presense Han is hands down the best at it. His face expressions are always on point and his dance and the way he exudes charisma, no one else in the group captures that in my opinion. Producing I agree Seungmin would be in fourth place but the rest I agree with 3racha are by far the most all-arounders in the group, they got a little bit of everything so Lino would be 4th to me
Harrier Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Itzy song is bland with bad vocals, but i suppose its a blessing that its not an outright abomination ala sneakers. Truly they are the standout example of 'falling off' as group in the history of k-pop, both in terms of success and quality. I genuinely think they have not released a single good song since Wannabe 1
Pluto6 Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) 2 hours ago, Mitsuki said: I agree here from the most part. I think Han is more naturally vocally talented than Bang Chan, you can see when he projects his voice. But he ends up comminting more mistakes while singing due lack of trainning of how to use his strengths properly. Since he's more of a rapper, I suppose It's not really that important for him how It's for some members who hired a vocal coach apart from JYP (props to Seungmin and I.N, now Lee Know who said yesterday he's been working hard on his improvement) Han has the widest vocal range in the group, but his higher register is not developed at all compared to his lower range, which is why he can be off key when he sings those high notes live. He has the same problem as Yeji were they both can sound like they are screeching or basically screaming in your ear, when they sing in their higher register sometimes, which doesn't always sound pleasing. Bang Chan overall has a more heavy and well defined voice that's more "safe" compared to Han, like idk how to explain it? Though Bang Chan sometimes also sounds nasally as if he has something stuck between his nose and throat when he's singing with his head voice just like Jungwon from ENHYPEN. In a few years, I can see VocalRacha + Lee Knowles becoming the vocal trinity of the group due to all the extra vocal training they keep receiving and taking that extra step as you mentioned, by hiring their own private top vocal coaches outside of the ones in JYP. . 2 hours ago, Mitsuki said: I don't understand/care much about korean standards so I will just say my personal ranking is probably 1. Lee Know 2. Hyunjin 3. Bang Chan 4. Han 5. Felix 6. Seungmin 7. I.N 8. Changbin My personal visual ranking is: Lee Know Bang Chan Hyunjin Felix I.N Changbin Seungmin Han 2 hours ago, Mitsuki said: It's hard here, cause Stray Kids members performance skills as a group aren't homogeneous. So It's really depend on what you value the most when It comes to stage presence. Is It presenting a good technical dancing skill set? Then, yes, Lee Know would be #1. Is It commanding the stage and engaging with the audience to make them hyped? Then, 3RACHA absolutely slay on that departament. Is It the ability to play with your mannerisms, emotions, facial expressions/using body language while dancing as a form of tell a story? Then Hyunjin and Felix are really the best. I think being so different from each other on the stage is one of the things that makes them special and charismatic actually. Cause they can attract different type of tastes to stan the group. The thing about Lee Knowles is that he just has that extra groove compared to the other members, and his energy and technical skills is just unmatched which is why his fancams are so satisfying to watch. The other members can keep up with him in their performances most of the time, but that's also because he's holding himself back to not outshine the group, and making sure that the the whole group is shining together as one, which is basically his job as the dance/performance leader. Though sometimes he can't hold himself back, and has to let us know that he has 3 cats to feed as well! Edited July 2, 2023 by Pluto2022
