Genuine question:

 

Will anyone ever surpass 25’s 3.38m first week sales record in the US? 

 

Even now, that number is just unfathomable. What’s more, she did it so effortlessly.
 

One album. One version. No bundles. All pure sales. 

 

I can’t see anyone ever surpassing it personally. But what say you?

I think Taylor has it in her. If she releases 50 versions of the same album, you know at least 50,000 of the fans will buy one of each, that's 2.5 million right there, then I'm sure she could get another 900k fairly to beat the record if she promotes heavily.

OIDIA seemed to be untouchable too for a while when lady gaga pulled all her atops and still couldn't take the top spot from britney. i think anything is possible in today's music industry because it became extremely easy to manipulate (not saying adelle did that)

I think the vinyl craze is gonna be a fad though. It's just not sustainable. And this isn't about Taylor but the whole industry. Streaming is the future.

I doubt it, but you never know. NSYNC's record seemed like it would be untouchable but Adele blew past it easily.

Very unlikely, if the number wasn't reach at the peak of sales, less now. That record is sealed at this point.

Pretty sure they had cassette, digital, physical and vinyl of 25 opening week so that's at least 4 versions. 
 

But no i don't think it'll ever be surpassed.

They’re all different formats lol. And it wasn’t available to stream.

 

Vinyl was also pretty much a dead format in 2015 as well.

Record means to be broken, the only question is when?

I'm sure in the future when a lot more % of the population has access to music we'll see these records shattering at some point. Who knows what the next mode of dominant consumption is going to be..

pretty such it will break soon since people starting buy vinyl and different type of physical copy

btw 25 only have 1 vinyl, standard and target cd from physical format, her power

Taylor is the only act right now that could do it, but she would need to pull off a note perfect strategy.

 

But I honestly don't think anyone is beating Adele for quite sometime. Maybe in a few decades.
