I mean…her point kinda still stands.  “Big Energy” is in a Rap category (regardless of which), while “SFG” was not allowed to compete in any Rap category.

At least to my understanding.

But watch neither of them get a nom altogether after this :rip:

No one said she wasn't allowed. In fact, no one on the committe has said a thing. It's on Nicki's team for not thinking to submit it to Melodic rap. And she has other songs apparently submitted to the rap category this year.

She had no point. All this freaky granny does is look bloated, embellish and bully folks.

I said this on the other thread:

Like people need to stop this she’s right etc etc. everyone even her Stans know how this woman works. She knows big energy is the big big female rap song of the year. Oniki knows she had zero chance(not that she had a bigger chance on rap) on pop and by saying this she thought she’d have influence and create backlash for Latto and she’d  be switched to pop as well so latto has less or any chances on pop too. She knows she’s missing on a nom and wants latto to miss on it too. There’s three newer female rappers that are Grammy winners: cardi, Meg and doja. She doesn’t want latto to be the 4th one while she’s Grammyless. It’s not about fairness is her damn ego.

she had a point. the problem was her dragging Latto into her rant. It was unnecessary, make your point without dragging other people into it.

I do understand Nicki's ponit tho, I mean she's rapping for the entirety of SFG, however I understand the Grammys not changing Latto's category since it is the right category for Big Energy

i been said that tho. republic shouldve submitted her to MELODIC rap. But the Grammys literally couldve just moved her to melodic rap instead of pop tho

This all circles back to Nicki wanting to be the only one…she was so busy making sure no other female rapper could make it she forgot at one time she wanted to be “the female Jay” and she didn’t expand her brand. Nicki literally has nothing but rap to fall back on to my knowledge. Like, what does she have going on outside of music? Myx Moscato…I’m not even sure if that’s still sold.

Nicki had 8 or so years of dominance and really nothing to show for it. I can kinda understand her frustration but she shouldn’t take that out on the other girls coming up

The Heart Part 5 and Die Hard are winning Rap Performance and Melodic Rap.

It doesn't matter what Minaj and Latto submitted :deadbanana4:

nicki's entire point was founded upon latto getting a slot she felt she was entitled to, so NO, nicki didn't have a point.

it's nicki and her team's fault for not submitting to melodic rap, which is clearly different from the rap category. :rip: :rip:

But Latto is not winning Melodic Rap neither

So her theory that someone in the industry wants to stop her from winning with SFG and help Latto to win is pure delusion when the frontrunner of that category is Kendrick Lamar :skull:  She just wanted an excuse to attack another female rapper.

That is literally what happened. :rip: Sometimes you lot will type the most ignorant stuff on here and circlejerk each other into delusion. And it's surprising, because you are already on the Internet, yet too lazy/biased to do the research, but always have the time for age/body shaming. :coffee2:

"U Can't Touch This" won a Grammy for Best Solo Rap Performance, sampling the exact same instrumental and rapping (only) on it. The question has been, why was Nicki Minaj's SFG moved to a different category? When sonically both songs have practically the same formula. What major difference do these songs have besides the artists that are performing them?

Y'all really stay online thinking you snapped, when in reality, you are being intentionally dense and sound stupid AF. Take your personal feelings out of it, and at least do some research before you post.

So Nicki submitted SFG to the melodic rap category (where Latto is) and it got rejected? :coffee2:  Do you have a source?

Is that what I wrote? :eddie: Did the Grammy's move SFG to Melodic Rap/a Rap category (as Professor2000 previously stated) or to Pop?  Therefore not allowing SFG to compete in any rap categories. Hopefully the underlining will make it clearer for you to read.  Thank you for validating my point about users being in a rush to troll, but never in a rush to do research.

And if you need Phonics, you could always start a GoFundMe. I will send $1.

THIS.

Is this Ernest Owens slow? This is literally Nicki's point, that both of the songs should be in the same category - yet Nicki's is for pop and Latto's is for rap.

Stupid thread based on an even more stupid tweet.

This doesn't matter at all, they should've switched the song to Melodic Rap if they felt that was more appropriate. Moving it to pop altogether is obnoxious and they're trying to deflect the point.

So what you mean to say... but keep circling around it like Nicki herself... is that she sent this specific song to the WRONG rap category, and they shut it out of the WHOLE genre in disgust?

She sent it to the J. Cole / Kendrick category (Best Rap Song) instead of the Doja Cat / Lil Nas X (Melodic Rap) category? :skull: Let's not even point out she has OTHER records (Do We Have A Problem, Blick Blick, Love In The Way) still in contention in the Rap Categories. :rip: All this mess over one song that isn't that good and is a rehash of Anaconda down to the flow? She ought to be ashamed of herself.

Anything for attention, I guess.

She knows that SFG is the /one/ attempt out of a bajillion this year that actually stuck. That is why she's going for gold

That DWAP song or w/e that has like the strongest fall from #2? Blick Block? No one knows what those are, let alone the Grammy voters. :deadbanana: This is the usual case every year for her, and what's changed is this one song.

So she will create as much noise as she can.

BINGO. The song is sadly not worth it though.

- I could argue with Cardi B and her writing... but Invasion of Privacy is a solid (rap) body of work with numerous SMASHES that took over the charts.

- I could argue with "Good News" as a whole, but Meg & Beyonce's Savage Remix (adding all of these different elements to create something brand new from the ashes of the previous version) had Grammy-winning potential, down to the Houston connection and ALL proceeds going to their hometown.

- I could argue about Doja Cat and the pop sheen with which she delivers her records, but "Kiss Me More" was pop perfection (and won in a pop category).

Does SFG in its' current state match the quality of any of these (or their respective storylines) leading into Grammy voting? Nope. It's even disrespectful to her previous rap noms (SFG's OG "Anaconda", "Moment 4 Life", 2 Best Rap Albums - PinkPrint & Pink Friday, Only, Truffle Butter, My Chick Bad).

I think of the Grammys like reality TV, where people usually root for/vote for 4 kinds of people: underdogs, reinventions, overdue "sweet as pie" artists, and art masterminds that are "sure things". Sometimes people hit multiple categories.

Nicki's storylines right now?

Mediocre Song + Great Hot 100 Peak + Feuds with Latto/Cardi/Meg (where she was seemingly the passive-aggressive aggressor) + Blackfisher Jesy Nelson + Her Husband + Her Brother :skull: + Covid-19 (+ Dr. Luke, who still has people actively rooting against him).

When looking purely at storylines, Latto is in a different category altogether. Luke is like the only issue.

It's not looking good for SFG or Nicki, no matter the category.

Well, she said…

1) she’s competing with more competition in Pop +

2) if hers is being moved because it’s a Pop production, then Big Energy should as well.

Which is actually factual + solid reasoning.

I can’t recall if she directly said they’re favoring Latto on purpose to spite her.  Because that night was a whirlwind.  :skull: But the above two statements are true.  Lol.

I personally don’t think they’re doing it to spite Nicki and uplift Latto on purpose…but that is kinda the side effect of the decision.  One has more of an advantage by not being moved…whether they’re competing in same category or not.

Now, if they come out and say Nicki was moved because she has too many song features with the possibility of getting nominate in Rap (Blick, Blick, etc)…and they moved her to Pop had nothing to do with genre, then that’s a whole different story.  But that’s not what is being said.  The Grammy committee is being silent on the matter.  :michael:
