Can you recall any occasions when an artist staying true to their artistic vision yielded underwhelming, or even negative results?

 

Example: When Katy kept pushing Unconditionally as a single because it was her favorite song off the album, while the world was screaming for Dark Horse to be released.

 

Bad Liar and Fetish flopping

Marry The Night being the least successful single from Born This Way

ME! smashing

When BTS and Blackpink

 

Deserved so much more love

Witness. katy believed so much in the album but it was so badly executed

It is Taylor's fault to be honest, LWYMMD was a moment but it's not single material.

End Game was also a horrible single choice.

If you think about it, Delicate was the only good single choice of the album.

She greatly mismanaged that one.

 

when Kiss It Better got eclipsed by Work, Needed Me, Too Good and TIWCYF
