Megan Thee: Rebranding Needed?

Featured Replies

"Plan B" by Megan Thee Stallion

"Sweetest Pie" by Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa

Now that her first supposedly Cross Over "hit" and Fan Fav have left the charts without reaching even 20weeks on charts collectively

it has got me thinking WHAT else our girl can do to FINALLY get a SMASH

Does she have BOPS? YES
Does she have LOOKS? YES
Does she have TALENT? YES

Does she have APPEAL? YES
Does she have VERSATILITY? Um...
Does she have ability to REINVENT? Um...

What is her team upto btw?

Megan Thee Stallion teams with Future for 'Pressurelicious' - The Music Universe

Her new single is about to get released, which already looks like it is going to have TRAGIC Trajectory like most of her BOPS!

Does our girl need something NEW/FRESH?
what can she and her team do?

Discuss...

She just needs better music. She has talent and charisma but the music isn't on par.

Ironically, the songs that i liked from her were the hits/moderate hits :deadbanana4: seems like to be the case with everyone else

Sweetest Pie wasn't good.

Pressurelicious isn't good either. You could tell it would flop based on the title alone. It's not catchy. The beat is good, but the hook is terrible. It's another "Don't Stop"

Plan B was great, but it's obviously not the kind of song that can make a dent on the chart. It's not structured like a hit, there's no hook. It did what it was supposed to do.

She has the buzz, she just needs better singles.

?

Neither of these songs have left the Hot 100 chart.

#15 Sweetest Pie - 18 weeks charting (currently at #54)
#29 Plan B - 7 weeks charting (currently at #94)

Both songs are still charting and Sweetest Pie will reach 20 weeks. Collectively they have reached 25 weeks so you are wrong.

Isn't Sweetest Pie sitting pretty at #54? :deadbanana:

Anyways, tbh Idk, the rollout has been a little weird, but tbh her release have always been like this

I'm just glad I'm getting ANOTHER whole new project in like a month or so, and I expect it to be as fire as Something For the Hotties :WAP:

I think she’s riding high doing all these headlining / big festival slots dining out from the leftover hype of 2020 that was meant to run out in 2021 mid pandemic.

In reality, the GP don’t really know any of her songs since Savage. Just WAP and that’s clearly a Cardi record.

I think one of the problems that every thing she does is DRENCHED in sex. I saw her at Glastonbury and it’s just gratuitous and bordering on too much. It’s a bit gross. She’s so good but the content of her songs are too overtly sexual it’s offputting.

I just wanna hear her rap about something that's not sex.

wouldn't the Sweetie Pie song go recurrent?

7 weeks at 94 isn't really a something which should be mentioned.
I guess the song is SITTING PRETTY at #94.

and this wasn't really a constructive comeback you thought it was.

Let me make 20 to 25 as if that would make it less dreadful.

If you are going to make a post like this you should actually bother to check the information you are posting about before trying to claim the songs are no longer charting.

I was just pointing out your mistake I don't see how it was supposed to be a "comeback".

No Sweetest Pie won't go recurrent, songs go recurrent if they hit 25 weeks while being below 50, not 20.

still more singles???

I think she has released some SOLID singles
idk why they didn't click with GP. I mean these are very SOLID songs

these are THAT track and still didn't do NO damage on the charts. idk whyy!

She’s doing good for the amount of releases she has. She’s been dropping non stop since 2019-20. I’m honestly surprised the fatigue didnt catch her yet. She’s been targeting different groups with different songs. This last one was clearly for the black clubs. Sweetest Pie was waaay too pop for her audience, kinda like Cardi on that BLACKPINK song. Once she has a real crossover again it will all come together with a higher peak. But sis is good.

The music just needs to be better. And its crazy how much music she has released already, like from 2017 to now. She's definitely a hard worker but quality over quantity

Cry Baby is eligible for 2x plat

Thot **** was a cute hit

I already talked about Plan B

Megan's Piano is not good

:dancehall3: idk…

Part of me feels like her rollouts are just bad.

Outside of “SP”, her songs have been of equal or better quality compared to Good News though, imo.

I do agree that I’d like to see evolution on the album.  But…plenty ppl drop similar sounding music on their sophomore, and it still does well.  So, I don’t know if a full reinvention is needed.  Just better rollouts.

I mean there aren't many female rappers who don't do this lol

Meg would be better if she stopped chasing chart hits. They're overrated, especially on here. I personally think critical acclaim is more important these days and probably translates better to tour ticket sales which is where the money is.  Big Ol Freak and the entire Tina Snow EP didn't sound like she was chasing a hit or forcing anything, at least to me. Her using a beat for Big Ol Freak which sampled Immature - Is It Love This Time? was original and really worked for her. The club trap stuff and tiktok grabs don't work for her, she needs to start going for something more original.

Plan B was original, definitely an homage to 90s rap but nothing sounds like it at the moment and it's probably her most well received single since WAP.

I love Meg but she doesn’t have range. She is the “Dababy” of female rap. She has bops but eventually they are gonna get old and burnt out. This last song is proving that.

Definitely. I remember saying on Classic ATRL before the reboot that she isn’t going to last long because she established twerking as her brand. What kind of brand is twerking?

i think her music is great, but i have seen the gp complaining about her lack of versatiliy and always delivering the same flow and lines

:cm:

This multiple flow thing is stupid, because many of the greatest rappers ever only had one signature flow. As long as they can ride a beat they’re good. A lot of people built their career on that. Future who features in the track that justify why Meg’s supposedly over is a great example and he’s thriving as well as ever lol people need to understand that Stripper Rap is just the 10s-20s equivalent of Gangsta Rap: it’s character-driven, with fixed themes and what varies is how you build this world with the bars. Meg is one of the best compared to her peers. She could def spit out of character, but that’s not her genre, she’s not a “conscious hip hop rapper” or a “neosoul rapper” or anything like that. She might switch when its no longer hot. I have a feeling she’s striking while the genre is popping, scoring hits with rap audiences and booking stages. I feel this generation of rap girls gives no fucks for stuff like queen of rap because they have seen how elusive mainstream success is with others. They just want to secure their bag

She needs stronger music, she also needs to get off of 1501 Certified
