Barbra is by far the most successful when it comes to record sales, why hasn't her music resonated as well as the others?

Stevie Nicks (5.4 M. Solo only) also beats Barbra.

 

No classics, I fear.

I think it's because most of her music is broadway/theater. I rarely listen to her discography outside of 1971-1984.

Barbra’s audience was completely different and much older.

Diana's monthly listeners improved a little bit after the soundtrack release and her touring in the UK because she used to have 7.5m monthly listeners in early May. But Barbara Streisand's discography is kinda forgotten by now. She is more known for her movies (at least in my country).

obviously because her music is traditional pop, AC & broadway?! something Spotify users rarely listen to. Plus, she can sell out tickets in minutes easily, something others can't relate.

Streisand has the least monthly listeners of all these female acts mentioned, yet if they all released an album tomorrow it’s only Streisand who would debut high on any album chart, in any country, across the world, especially the U.S along with the potential of debuting at #1. 
 

 

Streisand’s discography is comprised of, primarily, Traditional-Pop, Vocal-Jazz and Broadway music with select albums focusing on Contemporary genres and styles. Her audience is generally older and, even though they may not be avid streamers, they’ll certainly purchase her albums & concert tickets. 
 

The others? 
 

Also, Ross’ listeners have risen since she’s touring right now and just appeared at the biggest public ceremony in the U.K this century. Cher has “Believe” which is a multi-generational classic and has crossed over to Gen-Z and TikTok; the same applies to Newton-John and “Physical” as well as the “Grease” songs which are on her page.

Yeah, I think it's because Diana has more classics than Barbra. She has several songs that have 100/200M streams on Spotify, both solo and Supremes. 

 

Also her last album went Top 10 in several counties, including the UK, she's also filling arenas there and her legend slot at Glastonbury was PACKED. She had everybody singing those classics. She's adored in the UK and was actually the most successful female artist there in terms of hit singles before Madonna and Kylie.

 

She was scoring hits there into the 00's  and even songs like I'm Still Waiting and Chain Reaction (which bombed in the States) were smash hits in the UK.

Who calls her that? I’m confused. She was never a force in music. She’s been able to make music for three decades but other females were always much much bigger 

Ugh love seeing Olivia being mentioned. She and Diana ruled da 70’s 

Because Cher, Olivia, and Diana made more 70s/80s Pop compared to Barbara.

 

Olivia has the "Grease" soundtrack, Cher has "Believe", "If I Could Turn Back Time", and some other 80s songs, and Diana has her early 80s hit songs.

 

The numbers aren't shocking. Interesting that Diana's streaming has went up.

As someone already said, Barbs fans BUY her music so they don't have to stream it. Out of all of then, Barbra is the only one with MULTIPLE albums in the last 10 years, millions sold, and ONLY one with #1 album in every decade for the last 6 decades, so she has that going on for her.... oh and RESPECT of GP

They used to buy her music, her last album didn't sell as much as her earlier ones did and spent like a week on BB200. Not even Barbra can escape the fact that sales took a slump and streaming is the way people mostly consume music nowadays. She's an absolute legend but the fact that even those who debuted at the same time or earlier than her like Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald are getting more monthly listeners despite Barbra having had way more commercial success is shocking.  Of course a song can randomly become popular, thanks to the newer modes of music consumption, and a Barbra song could go viral and attract newer listeners but the question asked is legitimate. Maybe she lacks songs that resonate with the younger generations?

Streams are not the end of it all. 

Barbra still has them beat in almost everything else. I also do not understand the rewriting of history concerning Cher, she was never that successful. She was never on the level of those ladies. 

 

Also aren't monthly listeners showing how much playlist you have? Barbara's music is clearly not something people in this generation replay.

I'm glad someone else said it because I mean...it's mainly true.

 

However, one could make that argument with the others too but there was more dance pop that transcended generations.
