Does cardigan still hit you hard?

Featured Replies

I remember how slayed I was when she released this in quarantine.

The verse before the bridge already has punch after punch with "Peter losing Wendy" and "running like a father"

'Cause I knew you
Steppin' on the last train
Marked me like a bloodstain, I
I knew you
Tried to change the ending
Peter losing Wendy, I
I knew you
Leavin' like a father
Running like water, I
And when you are young, they assume you know nothing

But then the bridge comes out of no where and hits even harder

But I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss
I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs
The smell of smoke would hang around this long
'Cause I knew everything when I was young
I knew I'd curse you for the longest time

Chasin' shadows in the grocery line
I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired
And you'd be standin' in my front porch light
And I knew you'd come back to me
You'd come back to me

The last half of the song is a legit rollercoaster and takes a complete 180

Now you made me want to listen to this masterpiece again.

So many cringe lyrics in this song. They ruin what was otherwise one of taylor’s few inspired melodies

The way this is complete twaddle :ahh:

It never did. This was the song that made me give back my Taylor fan card :skull:

It brings me back into 2020 Covid isolation all over again where the only exploring I was allowed to do was what I could imagine.

This is one of the best moments in her discography :jonny4:

My answer to the question posed in the thread title is yes.

Yes, especially the part in the OP. Despite being a few years old now, it's still one of my most played songs of 2022. The cardigan chokehold will never let up.

I just revisited folklore tonight. Such a good album and such a good song.

This song is ass. :pukey: Same with Willow.

The rest of those albums are 10x times better.

Yes. I’m continually surprised how much I love this song every time it comes on. By the time the bridge comes I’m always scream singing :deadbanana2:
