No. The Toxic video isn't even that great nor original.

Tough year going against Hey Ya! I can honestly understand why it lost. Anyways, "Toxic" is one of the most defining music videos of the 2000's for sure.

I would have to go with no on this one, especially against Hey Ya! and It's My Life.  It think it is the transition from the motorcycle to the escape from the lab that didn't age as well as the others.

Hey Ya! was a worthy winner, but Toxic definitely deserved Best Female Video. Naughty Girl wasn't even Bey's best video from that era.

Yes easily. It is one of the best pop music videos of all time . Nothing could compare to it that year but MTV was hip hop focused in 2000's.

The only pop videos in the last 20 years that hold a candle to Toxic are Bad Romance and LWYMMD. /endthread

She definitely deserved at least Best Female Video... But MTV was probably mad at her that she cancelled her performance and didn't attend the show at all so they gave the awards to people who were present.

They literally give awards to whoever shows up

 

Toxic is the best pop music video of the 00s and the best music video since then, only LWYMMD comes close.

This is the prime example of the VMAs' zero credibility and worth. Toxic should've swept with ease.

It definitely had deserved to win something that year. The way the VMAs constantly played in Britney's face was beyond ridiculous 

i guess it deserves Pop Video at least and maybe Female Video, and BOMT deserves to win all of its noms

This was a crime.

"Hey Ya!" and "Yeah" DOMINATED MTV and the radio that year, so those two were easily the frontrunners.  Then "99 Problems" was one of the technical darlings that year. "Toxic" should've won Female Video, but she had stiff competition for VOTY.

It's a parody of the Beatles' iconic performance on the Ed Sullivan Show, but using special effects so that Andre 3000 played every single band member (which I've always taken to represent that Speakerboxxx/The Love Below is essentially two solo projects). Not you acting like they just did a concert video

Because it is just a concert video. It doesn't deserve an award just for being a parody of something.

Looking at the noms you posted it’s BOMT that deserved its wins.
