Three people that I know has it (all gays - London+Manchester - all possibly through sexual transmission). I was quite scared especially because I'm finally flying this summer..I thought I couldn't get a vaccine in London if not exposed/not having it?

I got the vaccine on Thursday without having been exposed, just call your local clinic

 

I was worried about possible side effects but 2 days later all I had was a slight pain in my arm that’s nearly gone now.

YET. The huge danger with this spread is Covid deja-vu = strengthening strains. 

I know of 5 gays in Dallas that have it, including a personal friend

This can affect all people but seems to be more prominent in the gay community. Gays just keep your pants on for a while shew ?

I'm getting really down about this cause I'm going to the US for vacation and I might have to reel it in and not even see some people I was planning to see expect (unless they managed to get vaccinated). I could pretend nothing is happening and not give a damn, but the infection is so gnarly it's just not worth it.

 

I'll try to research about maybe getting the smallpox vaccine and if it's worth it to get it so close to my trip. 

 

Also, there's no point in shaming the community for this happening. We're a particularly insular community with our own bars, clubs, events, bathhouses, gyms; so obviously if one gay man got it then it was going to spread around by virtue of people simply living their lives (specially during Pride month no less). However I'm delusional enough to wish that maybe when things like this happen that there was some sort of collective consciousness of self-preservation that would prompt everyone from engaging on risky behavior for a while until the threat is neutralized.

I booked my appointment for the vaccine but it is in 11 days because I had to prioritise my alergy shot.

I forgot this disease still exists  I thought it would be under control by now

What is happening?! Pandemic again!!!

People have pandemic fatigue. So this will spread so much, especially with so much disinformation and the politicization of health. Doesn't help that they're trying to make this into a gay disease. 

Im having the hardest time finding vaccine. I think I will have to lie and say I was exposed.

Yeah because that sure stopped rhe hiv pandemic lol

 

 

It spreads not only by sex. This is not the first time we have had a monkeypox outbream. There was one in 2003.

No! It's just the close contact with another person, not even sexually. it spreads easier sexually but it's not an STD

Got my monkeypox/Jynneos vaccine shot and I feel great.  Eagerly awaiting for my second one in 4 weeks. 

Someone I had sex with a couple weeks ago went to a bathhouse the DAY after we hooked up and caught monkeypox there  Dodged a bullet there whew

it depends on where you live I guess. look for your local health authority and if they have information online or call them. you might have to travel like I will have to.
