I remember people saying during COVID that COVID would be taken more seriously if the side effects included lesions on the skin like you see with small pox. :rip: Looks like even with that people are still not taking this seriously. All gay men have to do is stop having unsafe sex for a short amount of time, but of course that's too much to ask of them.

From the OP:

  • outbreak mainly in gay/bisexual men (96% of cases)

  • 54.2% of those cases^ have a history of STI

  • 31.8% of those have had 10 or more sexual partners in the last 3 months :cm:

This is from a questionnaire^ please note that. Sample size doesn’t equal actual cases.

Got a call today from my sexual health clinic offering the monkeypox vaccine so guess they’re rolling it out in the UK

Has anybody gotten it yet and what were your side effects? Think I might hold off on it for now

is your sexual health clinic dean st? I really want to get the vaccine ASAP

Skin lesions grow and get itchy and painful. But the worst is rectum inflammation. I feel like I’m about to poop out all of my guts every 5 mins :cries: Some people experience this gut inflammation symptom too. Not sure what to do. Maybe I’ll ask a doctor for something anti-inflammatory

I go to the All East Clinics - Sir Ludwig Guttman or Ambrose King Centre depending which has appointments.

Try calling and see if you can get the vaccine there.

I’m so sorry, I hope you get feeling better!

Im really interested though, can you share a timeline of symptoms and stuff? How’d you realize it was monkeypox?

Thank you

July 2 - my hole was a bit itchy, and I saw this one "pimple" down there

July 4 - there were 3 of them now, and I had a headache and was very tired

July 5 - fever and sense of disorientation, found new skin lesions on my arms and back, started having diarrhea

July 6 - a lot more skin lesions popped up all over my body - back, arms, ass, legs, mouth, one on nose; 99F at night

July 7 - gut inflammation and itchy growing skin lesions; 99F at night; I went to test for monkeypox, waiting for results

today - skin lesions are more red, itchy, and painful, new ones showing up everywhere, my colon seems very inflamed, feeling like I need to poop every 5 mins

I had a vaccine appt today but skipped it because my body is inflamed and I already have monkeypox. I wonder if natural immunity is better than vaccine for monkeypox?

It is progressing very fast.. if people get it 7+ days after exposure, so I may have been infected during the NYC pride weekend. I went to 2 crowded parties with thousands of shirtless guys and body contact. I had sex with only one guy who is starting to have symptoms today...

Oh God. I hope you get better soon. Do you know who you got it from? Were there any lesions visible to you when you had sex with him, or was it a dark room or sauna situation where you couldn’t see him clearly?

Thank you! Not sure who I got it from. I have one regular fwb and we went out to a large Pride party. He didn’t have anything until today and I saw him last weekend

Ok then it's possibly you got it after someone with a sore at the party rubbed against you I guess? Because if you got it from your friend and he had no symptoms when you saw him......lawd. That is a whole nother level of scary and it means it will spread much much further.

MPX spreads through contact with clothes & bed linen :biblio:

The good news is that, even in a crowded train/subway, the risk of contracting is still fairly low.
