Is Lizzo “Over”?

Featured Replies

She just released her lead single from her forthcoming album Special, however, the song got a cute boost on iTunes, but, not placing within the Top 50 of Spotify US. She also has nearly 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
With the flop of “Rumors” featuring Cardi B and literally every song she’s released after “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell” have not managed to do much on the charts.
Will “About Damn Time” ultimately succeed after its radio run? Can you see Special being certified platinum like her previous effort? :celestial5:

I still don't understand why they didn't push Rumors more, Lizzo literally went on Jimmy Kimmel and did an interview instead of promoting the song. :rip:

I will say this, I think she got VERY lucky with Truth Hurts and Good As Hell blowing up, nothing else has really managed to stick and I think it's largely in part due to her social media antics/image. Plus, her music just sounds outdated and generic. Talented woman though.

Truth Hurts and Good As Hell were lightning in the bottle moments, the discourse around her has hurt her marketability. It’s another Alessia/Meghan situation.

Like I said in the other thread she's yet another example of an artist who blew up in the latter half of the 2010s now struggling to maintain that same success in the new decade. Post, Camila, and now her. If you don't reinvent a la Lil Nas X you're going to get left behind in the last decade. No one is here for this "thick-o-thirty" mess in 2022. :rip:

Hopefully she snatches a hit with one of the Max Martin tracks but she's on very thin ice rn

album is finished, too early for calling her "over" here.

Um she’s going down the Meghan Trainor route. Basically career centered around female empowerment anthems until people get tired.

She has lost the fire in her music, and there is nothing like able in her personality, so yeah, she’s over in mainstream. She may shine again once she goes back to indie.

Post doesn't belong there

He has 3 massive albums (Lil Nas wishes) :deadbanana:

Sadly Lizzo will pull a Megan Trainor but that's fine. She had her two big hits and 3 Grammys  :clap3:

I hope she keeps releasing music

One Right Now & Motley Crew were both bombs so I don't understand how this is supposed to refute my point...?

Excuse me :biblio:

Meghan Trainor had FOUR hit singles from her debut era and then an extra TWO hits from her sophmore era, SIX hits in total, how is that comparable to Lizzo's two hits?

Its looking like so cuz not having the song anywhere on top 50 Spotify US being #2 on NMF and also performing and hosting SNL is BAD BAD.

But let's still wait for the album cuz it can have THE hit that saves it all!! (hopefully)

At least let him to release his 4th album before saying he's over. :rip:

Zero artist progression. I think she is stuck on one self-image representation of herself. :rip:

So glad I don’t have to keep changing the channel on my car stereo.

The continuous SPAM a couple of years ago with that Minnesota Vikings song on SIRIUS, whew!

You’re definitely right that this is the public’s perception. I think the new song is sonically a big leap forward but it doesn’t cover new ground lyrically so I’m sure the GP is tired of it
