So my place of work decided to commemorate Black History month by cooking us a special lunch. Bearing in mind it's the 26th of the month and it's been radio silence for the past 25 days. Anyway I get to eating the Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and cornbread. Tell me why I was sitting in the staff room with my earphones in minding my business when everybody wants to tap me on my shoulder and ask what I think of the lunch. ***** the food was TRASH. Unseasoned, slimy chicken tbh! But I didn't say that because the chefs were very proud of themselves, I let them have their lil moment.

Anyways then the discussion turns to famous black people and lawd, who told these YT's they were allowed to have an opinion? Mf's were deadass debating who was more influential between Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama while I'm just there trying to read my book and listen to Halle's new album in peace

i aint giving anybody a pass for racism. having a disability doesnt justify treating ppl foul. i dont have tourettes or any disability, but lets be fr racism is taught. some users in there start handing out excuses, but overlooking why they used that specific slur.

damn i hate that for u. at least i can ignore this mf but a whole boss acting like a coon is crazy. what do he be doing?

the one on my job he always feel the need to bring up politics/current events or run to put down black folks. mind u theres only a sprinkle of us in the HR dept and we all roll eyes at him.

I think we need to be kinder to each other, we are only remotely sheilded from anti blackness in the privacy of our home (barely) and in the company of kinfolk.

I'm not a mule or a doormat, and I say that as a neurospicy BW.

Yeah, just sucks and is annoying. I'd probably be seeing red if a special moment was ruined like that. MBJ, my love... Lot of users here just dont care about anti-blackness or agree with it.

Apparently, tourettes makes you say the most taboo word you can think of... but just between us, that kind of smells like bullshit to me, idk. And then I think "maybe he should just stay home" but I definately know thats ****** up to think. I need to do more research.

Still think someone needs to apologize. I've also thought that it must be really annoying to constantly have to apologize for things you have no control over, but I think there was some mitigation he could have done, idk, more research.

And, of course, the BBC is garbage. And every awards show is racist.

I just find it kind of ironic how everyone in this site has suddenly become an expert on Tourette's syndrome but can't (most likely don't want to) try to understand anti-Blackness sentiment in the slightest and started to villainize every single black person in the thread. It's disheartening but not surprising at all.

They want to make the world a better place but don't want to address the subjugation of 1b+ people that exist as Black throughout the world.

When Black people get tired of it they will act shocked.

Something in my spirit doesn't like seeing white people do that smelly fish scuba dance on tiktok and I really can't figure out why?

To those paying attention to US politics, where do you think the future of African Americans lands us?

A doom and gloom part of me thinks the worst of the worst—we will all (regardless of race) be literal slaves to the multibillionaire class and they will kill off those that can't keep up.

The other side of me thinks/hopes too much doesn't change. We were always and will always be discriminated against; the only difference is that the laws protecting us no longer exist. Less opportunities for black education—meanwhile, education is being gutted and history erased—less job opportunities, black neighborhoods will continue to be targets for data center locations (poisonous air), less representation on tv in general. Besides that, they can't, or at least won't, deport us without starting a civil war that they won't win. We have more allies than we think and there are way too many mixed race families for Jim Crow laws to actually return and be enforced. I'm going to continue living life and not let #them convince me that life in the USA is over. Our ancestors were successful with a fraction of the opportunities that we have now. It can't get that much worse for us? Right? Maybe I'm trying to make myself feel better and the doom and gloom will be reality.

We're done for in the long term if we don't become a protected class, not dissimilar to Native tribes. We need to be legally defined and granted status as American Freedmen. We've had so many protections rolled back that a lot of our families fought and died for, and if we don't move fast, it will be the end of us.

Jim Crow will come back imo; it nearly exists in certain parts of the country, and it's not just being enacted by white people. Look at the conditions of Black folks in LA for example. Black folks over there have brought up lawsuits about several forms of discrimination they're facing over there, and it hasn't gotten anywhere, unfortunately.

I'm not trying to be a doomer but as someone trying to draft up protections for us, I'm in a rush.

By 2030, the entire South would have likely removed our congress representation besides I guess Georgia depending on what happens in governor racerip

the good thing that came out of it was a cycle of a new writer or director getting a chance on a new series.

Tyler Perry completely stopped that pipeline. Every Black director before him had an understudy of some sort that they aided in propelling... Except Tyler.

side note: its time for tyler perry to retire.

Does anyone have any good Tubi film recommendations? Preferably Drama, Thriller or Horror.
