Most of y’all are international stans and have been Kpop stans for a decade now. But you think international stans are less loyal than the Korean GP especially when kpop doesn’t seem to slow down :alexz2:

I’m sure the 4th gen generation will have a better longevity than the previous ones (exc Twice, BTS, BP...)

lol right OMG is already tanking after two years of domestic success. if they had global fans they'd be touring and stuff :deadbanana:

Any Kpop act touring in the US and Europe got huge attendance because a lot of non fans or multi goes there since not that many group are coming... I mean I'm not a Blink by no means but I saw BP live.

well i'm glad you saw the best performers in kpop

Trust me they weren't the best kpop act I saw.

I mean WW stats are nice but at the end of the day Asian countries will always be the biggest consumer of Kpop.

Like it’s kinda embarrassing for a Kpop group to barely be known in Korea. But if you can tour decent sized venues globally that’s great.

Yeah they are but the focus seemed to be on Billboard when it came to this discussion. Groups should definitely aim to be global with Kpop being as popular as ever

Not with the way the kpussy keeps popping out groups and somehow they all get good sales, people are gonna keep hopping onto different groups, there's only much people interested in kpop and money they can spend :emofish:

The way Suzy out of nowhere releases one of the best song of 2022 just like that :jonny5:

Pick a good week when the album sales are low (which is almost always) and ship the albums to Target with a bunch of versions and I'm pretty sure most of these 4th gen bgs would have potential to top the Billboard so ehh it's kinda whatever now. The US is good for touring and that's pretty much it.

Getting a smash in Korea definitely seems to be a bigger challenge.

the way k-pop kinda lost its appeal after becoming super global

or maybe that’s just me being nostalgic idk

Wait...when people talk about global It doesn’t mean only billboard. It means everywhere expect Korea. :rip:

I thought NMiss was gonna comeback 3 times this year, where are they?

Also, it feels like it’s been forever since Aespa had a comeback?

I literally hope these girlies don’t start pulling BP n comeback once a year or every other year :psyduck:

Exactly. Success in Korea (good digitals) is important for GP recognition. The people who say domestic success doesn't matter are delusional. Having hits in Korea literally helps you get other jobs = higher income (CFs, acting, variety shows, awards shows, festivals, etc.).  I mean the perfect example was Brave Girls.  I mean congratulations to Everglow, LooN/A and other groups for cute Spotify streams, but it doesn't help them pay their bills.

Poor them. They should have bulk bought more albums.

it's both tbh

most groups(especially boygroups) suck now that they're all making the same music that appeals to the same demographic of kpop fans in the West

but IVE are international superstars and Love Dive is K-SOTY, so you can be super global and still make great music :coffee2:

Aespa have been kinda omnipresent though since they had dreams and Karina and winturd were in GOt the beat.

NMISS are too busy covering other people’s songs.

ITZY N/A

Actually intrigued in what NMISS is gonna bring to the table next. It can't be another pO.Op right?

Maybe that was JYPee's plan all along

no it’s true it’s true :jonny5:

Y'll act like Stray Kids is a household name in the US because they topped the Billboard chart? :ahh:

They literally just have a big-ass fandom (like they also DO in Korea) but aside from that, I bet nobody in the US even know what a Stray Kids is

All these WW stats are useless when you realize the KPOP boom will end up being a fad. When it stops being trendy these groups will only have Korea & some other Asian countries to rely on which is why I think at the end of the day domestic success is more important.

i dont think this will happen, music is much more global these days

When will we have a K-pop girlgroup that'll actually try to be a full vocal group like, give me a MAMAMOO thats willing to not just do a 1-2 step and can serve Destiny's Child vocals, aespa is kinda getting there but they keep ruining it with those rap bridges maam we wanna hear SINGERS :wanda:

IVE have been completely singing their hits from debut but none of them are strong vocalists, BLACKPINK teas :deadbanana4:

well duh of course everlgow and loona's miniscule streams don't pay their bills but i'm sure these groups are fine

I 100% believe the theory that O.O is the worst song of all time on purpose

Their next comeback is going to be a pop banger that'll do justice to their vocal talents:WAP:

Not really, no. Yoona and Suzy had drama debuts and blew up. You are comparing their career peaks to girls whose careers have only recently started. Also Sana and others were never considered because we all know Korea doesn't want to crown foreign idols as IT girls.

The 4th gen is only just starting to move into the peak years and right now, Wonyoung, WINTER, KARINA etc. are the frontrunners.

Karino is not going anywhere. Winter overshadowed her despite her heavy payola from SM :rip:

Wonyoung and Sullyoon are top contenders :gaycat1:
