Okay so here are some of my loosely organised thoughts on the show I saw last night in Bristol. As excited as I was for Fire To Your Plain, Iieee is obviously the superior song and opener. I knew we w

  • Kinda random place to start, but @blade bird suggested I listen to Scarlet's Hidden Treasures right away, so I did! Loved it! I just left some quick comments, not a full blown analysis or anything. M

For whatever reason (as Tori songs usually do) Purple People burrowed into brain after years of ignoring it and I kinda think this deserved a spot on DDL. So good and well within her current vocal range.

Disagree. I feel like Beekeeper just needed a producer and editor. I know it's been litigated to DEATH by fans for the past 20 years as her downfall moment but everything comes down to the convoluted concept and barren production. Her 2005 performances are actually across the board better than the Scarlets tour ones so she didn't really 'lose it.' Doll Posse is a different story...

Like this COULD BE a Scarlet's Walk song.

And it's crazy that Garlands wasn't on the album when **** like Hoochie Woman was. If she was seriously attached to every song I feel like it would've been way better received with a 12 track album followed by a B-sides compilation ala Scarlet's Hidden Treasures.

Every Tori fan I know has their own playlist version of her bloated post-Scarlet albums.

Makes me cry. :jonny: So many beekeeper songs thrive in solo piano form like that.

the way she can just take a random song from her discography and make it new and interesting. i love the long intro

Fair and generous assessment for that album. I don't despise it, but it does not satisfy despite its promise. In true Tori fashion this era had great b-sides/unreleased tracks that stomp the main tracklist. Garlands is one of her best! As a fan of Scarlet, I would have been fine if Beekeeper was a summery, coastal themed sequel with tracks like Jamaica Inn, Indian Summer, and Seaside.

happy birthday to this legendary mother, who's inspired me so greatly in my own journey as a musician (particularly this year which is the year I began fully stanning her) :jonny5: she's one of the main reasons I've been writing all my new songs on my keyboard

sorta kinda one of the best songs of all time if you sit down and really think about it.

I once called this her most sonically experimental and I stand by it (give or take Zero Point)
