I’ve been a casual fan since she started in Selena’s Gomez and the Scene, but I wonder what happened to “the Scene” and if she kept in touch with them? It seemed like a marketing tool to make her more appealing in the pre poptimism era and nothing more but I’m curious.

She just didn’t want to start out in music as a solo artist because of anxiety so decided to have a band that would be with her and make her feel more comfortable on stage. After the WOTN tour ended in 2012 they parted ways and she started her solo career a year later. That’s all. The only studio executive move was naming the band after her name.

Fair enough I think it worked for her starting out and she transitioned out of it seamlessly tbh

I’m surprise we haven’t gotten more casting news. I thought Vanity Fair cover would mean something was coming but nothing so far. Every person on the cover but her has like 3-4 upcoming projects.
 

 

I think reaching 407 million followers will help with the business side of things but not with booking roles. I want more for her.. . Only Murders will probably have another season then what.

I mean, next year it'll be ten years since they signed her, and she only released two albums

They are probably close to wrapping up S3 so after that I see her doing and readying stuff for Emmy campaigning (fingers crossed for Actors on Actors and a magazine cover) and then straight to filming Emilia Perez. Maybe releases the lead while still filming but focuses on the album after she is done with the movie and closer to OMITB S3 promotion. That will probably be all she does this year. Maybe starts filming S4 in December. 

 

A 2024 schedule might consist of S4 filming and release, Emilia Perez release + potential awards campaign and (hopefully) filming of another movie. Of course i'm not counting Rare Beauty, which is a given.

Yes. She wanted just a band called "The Scene"... Disney vetoed it. They wanted Selena Gomez only and advised her that she still would have the guys on stage with her.

She just wanted to be cool a la Paramore and wanted less attention on herself.

I feel like it could’ve been but they are also small crumbs that make it seem real. 
 

If it is real, I think it might just die down without any actual proof. I feel like either of their team would have refuted they weren’t in on it.

I would love it and she’d probably be “free” by September but I’m not sure they are up for it. Everyone wants them to host something so that pressure and the expectations that come with it are never good so I don’t know. They haven’t announced a host yet. I think if they do it it might be for the last Emmys the show is eligible for? Like if S4 is the last one and releases in 2024 then they could host Emmys 2025? I don’t know. 

We are already in April  I need the lead in July at least

I strongly doubt the label hasn't considered releasing something in the past month/weeks as Selena's catalogue rose across the board but I imagine they're not doing anything to avoid hampering the performance of Calm Down on the charts since it still has lots of room to grow and a new Selena single would potentially halt its momentum on radio and playlists since their focus would shift to the latest song. Since I expect Calm Down to keep rising all the way through summer, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up releasing around September... although as I'm typing this I remembered she teased a summer full of excting things under one of her recent posts if I'm not mistaken, so actually maybe June it is, a la Good for You?

I think she's definitely releasing in Late May/Early June, by then Calm Down probably will be still top 10, but she needs to move forward.

She will be in France for a month tops. The movie shooting will happen in a studio with a low budget and a tight schedule.

My guess is that they even already chose the lead single, and she already shot at least promo pics, since Hung and everyone else was in NYC.

That’s what I’m saying. I feel like her team has never shied away from shutting these rumors down in the past

 

It also could just be a collab they’re working on, so all the press about them would make sense ahead of the release
