The problem is not Gaga or her team, it's the fans being literally the dumbest fans on the planet, thinking this song would somehow perform the same way as a lead single.

Gaga is a polarizing artist and those things were her ways to show the GP that she's more than a popstar. It doesn't guarantee that the GP will be perched to stream her songs  but rather a profound respect towards her brand and artistry. She still needs to promote her work for people to care, if it sticks then it sticks, if don't then she will try again but the admiration from the GP  would stay forever.

This is why I call Gaga fans stupid. They can't see the bigger picture because their brains are like, dog brains or something; they can only see the short-term impact of things. You'd think after what Ga's accomplished since 2014, they'd understand her goal is long-term impact and legacy building. If they want to stan someone who focuses solely on trying to get hits so they can sleep better at night, there are so many other popstars available.

Madge was in her mid-thirties in 1994.

Mariah was in her mid-thirties in 2004.

Kylie was in her mid-thirties in 2004.

Janet was in her mid-thirties in 2002.

 

I don't know if you're aware of this, but it's 2022 and things are a lot different success-wise than in the early 90s and 2000s.  

Gaga released one of the biggest songs of all time, and the most awarded song of all time when she was 33. I think she'll be fine.
