Monster reminds me of "I Want It That Way" Backstreet Boys in that the lyrics didn't make total sense but were used because they sounded better with the production. I think Red/Gag just wanted a hit if they needed it and went with some screwy lyricism in exchange for sense. Plus a song titled Monster wouldn't hurt an album of the same name/concept. It's a perfectly crafted pop song. Not everything needs to be super complex.
