Just seen this, oh wow oh wow, and shooting starting even earlier in November? With shooting wrapping by January we can realistically start to expect teasers and such next year too in the same way Oppenheimer’s campaign has already started.

 

What if we get the first trailer in front of Oppenheimer in July.

They're not going to release a trailer a full year and a half in advance. Maybe they'll put out a teaser, or some promo images, but I think 2023 is going to be pretty dry as far as J: FAD content comes.

Wishful thinking tbh. Right now, it feels like a ASIB-esque situation to me where the film was shot a year and a half before the official release and then they took the rest of the time to perfect it and planning the campaign around it. Spring/Summer 2024 would be my safe bet for trailer launch. At least we have the HMH awards season, Vegagas and new viral Haus Labs products to look forward to next year

I think she will show up only on big awards like GG and Oscar since the filming schedule of Joker2 overlap with awards season.

Depends on how long the filming lasts. She probably will skip GG and CC. She'll definitely attend and perform at the Oscars if she's nominated, if not anything else.

When it comes to Golden Globes participation it really depends from Tom Cruise, if he has forgiven them or not, if he's still against them, I don't see Gaga attending regardless of her schedule, maybe just Bloodpop. It's not clear yet if Hollywood will embrace them or not again for the majority.

I would be happy to be surprised, but yeah this is not the same thing as the ASIB remake and there’s nothing to suggest she has been booking studio time / working on music. Who knows? We should get more tea once it begins shooting.

Tea, original music for this kind of project sounds risky (for a project that is already risky by itself), Gaga has a big responsability now that we know she's gonna be main lead, no need to have also original music again, classics will work better for this project imo and I still think it's for the best for her to not have new original music if she really wants that BA prize.

And yes if there was gonna be original new music I think the various media outlets would have said it along with the musical part.

I dunno it’s pure conjecture and sure July might be pushing it but we got the first trailer for Oppenheimer a full year before release in front of Nope and the poster’s been up outside my cinema ever since; and FAD feels in the same vein as those two movies when it comes to how WB will want to handle the rollout — a very steady drip trumpeting an auteur’s return to the multiplexes.
 

It makes sense to me that they would use Nolan’s movie in a similar way to how they utilised Nope because that audience crossover is too perfect not to (and yeah July is early but look to WW89 to how that won’t phase WB from teasing footage / images from their most prized jewels as early as they want to).

 

Or we might get nothing next year and this will be pushed nearer the time via the festival circuit and a more conservative promo strategy (especially if they are worried about divisiveness of the material) but I would honestly be surprised if the studio could restrain themselves that long to start with the marketing especially with how we know the official announcement with *emphasised* release date this far out was pushed up and used as a salve / distraction for the financial jitters around Discovery’s recent fumbling.

 

And honestly this is all because of how far in advance shooting will take place; I have a lot of time to overanalyse today.

True but then first time in the directors chair Bradley Cooper — despite their faith in his steering the ship and the growing word of mouth around the early edit — wouldn’t have the same pull for the studio to promote so far in advance in the same way a new movie from Jordan Peele or Chris Nolan or a follow up to a Wonder Woman / Joker sized success would — “visionary” directors “worthy” of event status and WB fully intending to herald into making bank.
 

A two-way relationship with key directing talent famed within the industry that recent execs have been accused of taking for granted with focus on shrinking streaming windows and platforms so they will be certain to keep said filmmakers happy that they are fully committed to the theatrical experience which is why (for certain major movies on their slates) they are committed  to these long marketing campaigns.

 

Basically I’m doing a lot for what will amount to very little difference for fans. Whatever happens I’m going to hate waiting.

My bad, I meant more as a launching pad for Joker marketing to start kicking in, but yeah, she could have made for a fun Princess Irulan especially as that would play into the suggested age gap in the book that adds an interesting layer to how things play out; Florence is pretty much perfect casting on paper though and she will kill it no doubt (although probably have to wait for the third movie for the character to really impact the story depending on how far Denis adapts — the Zendaya of Part 2 I fear).

I think we'll get something next year around that time (and potentially tied to an adjacent tentpole), but I think it's more likely to be something similar to Joaquin's camera test but with Gaga to introduce her Harley. And the full-blown trailers in 2024. So basically a repeat of what they did for the first Joker but more intentional timing.
