Gaga is such a compelling visual artist that usually her music videos add a layer of depth/ complexity to her music in a way catches people's attention. I hope in the future Gaga continues to release music videos alongside her songs. Look at DWAS - the music video played such a big part in the song catching on and smashing. Hopefully it can happen again with Abracadabra! Hopefully it can happen again with Abracadabra! It would have helped for sure but I don't think the difference would have been that significant, maybe an extra 5-10M views in total. Disease is too visceral and sinister-y for your average GP viewer (she's literally spitting out black goo in one scene). It's a bit too much for even your average pop stan even, I remember reading some "this makes me uncomfortable idk :/" comments in the single thread after release but agree with your overall point, having a visual component from the get go will always elevate the experience of listening to her songs. Love that for us though. We get to have two completely different songs and videos that run the gamut from visceral, unsettling, twisted to ethereal, stunning, grand, which further speaks to her seemingly infinite range as an artist. Maybe Disease can get some renewed attention on album release, it's bound to get some since it's the opener after all.
