I didn't remember that change to the formula, so I think it's fair to assume the next album could do at least 80–85k in streaming units. And I agree that physicals are probably the biggest opportunity. Mayhem sold well, but not enough to have a truly surprising opening, partly because its aesthetic wasn't as marketable. If the next album has a strong visual identity, good physical variants, and a couple of months of pre-orders, I could definitely see her surprising on the physicals side

I expect it to do better in pure sales but noticeably worse in streaming. We probably won't have a DWAS-level streaming boost next time, so I'd put it at around 150-160k pure sales and 60-65k streams. For comparison, Mayhem did 136k pure sales and 80k streams.

I hope LG8 has a pre-order period of at least two months so she can rack up as many pure sales as possible and debut with over 300k

I completely forgot about that, maybe it'll come out this year and end up being a transition into the next era, the same way DWAS was for MAYHEM. If it becomes a hit, we'll just call it the lead single retroactively lol

I hope that after MAYHEM's commercial success, she gives herself the freedom to experiment more sonically. We all know she has it in her. I absolutely love the Killah arrangement on MAYHEM Requiem, that's exactly the direction I'd love to hear her explore on the next album. I also hope she announces the next project without releasing a lead single beforehand. and I think a shorter era with less traditional promotion would suit her well. I've become a bit skeptical that we'll get anything by the end of this year, though. At this point, I just hope we get something new sometime next year.

Maybe... I think she's established a ~200k floor in the US, and anything above that is a bonus. This might sound a bit conspiratorial, but I honestly think MAYHEM would've cleared 250k+ if the cover art and variants had been more appealing. Physical sales are so tied to how appealing the packaging looks, and MAYHEM's aesthetic just wasn't as marketable. Give it a cover on the level of Chromatica and I honestly think it moves noticeably more CDs and vinyl.

It's a shame that even a random Beyoncé release can chart decently on Apple Music US while a major Gaga release can't. Her US fanbase really dropped the ball. MAYHEM deserved a 300k debut on the Billboard 200 (though 219k was still a solid debut for her).
