The BOS category has evolved. If today’s standards were used in the past, Madonna would be a two time BOS winner for You Must Love Me (1996) and Sooner or Later (1990). Woman were never properly credited as song writers back then. Now in 2022, artists like Beyoncé get nominated as a song writer and in 2015 Gaga got nominated with only 10% writing credits. 
 

Hold My Hand is an undeniable front runner for BOS. Based on three factors. 1. Lack of meaningful competition. 2. The academy loves to award giant ballads 3. The song is attached to a hugely successful movie that will have multiple nominations at the ceremony. 
She could definitely lose to a niche song from a Best Picture nominated movie. Like how How Far Will I Go and Can’t Stop the Feeling lost to City of Stars. But as of right now, Hold My Hand is the song to beat. We still have 6 months to go and most Best Picture nominated movies will come out in the Fall and Winter 

Frances McDormand is between the rarities I mentioned before, she's a veteran actress, deeply respected by her peers, probably the most respected actress right now, even more than Streep and she has 40 years of honorable career in that field, you can't really make a comparison with Gaga.

 

 

FYI: The final round of BOS is a pure favourite vote. You only check one box in the ballot. So we should use a different “stats” from the complex ass ranking scores in acting categories.

Using BOS win(s) to discredit her chances at BA doesn't make sense since different branches vote for those awards.

Arrival is good, Little Woman is good and even Nightmare Alley was kinda bearable but they all got snubbed in acting category (especially Amy Adams for Arrival). To get a nomination even a win requires good narrative, goodwill among acting branch and most importantly effective campaign strategy (HoG suffered from poor/ messy campaigns while Eyes of Tammy Faye benefits from those Academy Museum screenings and FYC parties).

I meant that the movie has to be a Best picture nominee, for Gaga to have a shot.

Arrival was nominated for every possible Oscar except for best actress so yeah things like that can happen so be prepared!

 

As for Best Original Song idk, like she already nominated twice and got one it kinda makes no sense to campaign for another one? Unless she wants to show off in front diane warren, which I approve!

This point was brought up last year, but women rarely win Best Actress for controversial villain roles. If she has amazing chemistry with Joaquin and the movie is nominated for best picture, she can maybe get nominated. 

Gaga would have a better chance winning BA with a remake of Cabaret.

La La Land was undeniable that year, the only way it’d have lost is vote splitting (Audition was also nominated), if Top Gun manages to squeeze in a BP nom, i fear BOS is hers to lose. Also the ballot only displays the song & movie title, not the songwriters, which gives the most popular acclaimed movie in the category the best advantage (i reckon its one of the reasons TIHTY lost & Diane Warren still hasn’t won yet)

Yeah she should keep getting enrolled in good projects and bring box office smash (her selling point compared other BA candidates) and building good will inside academy, I'm sure she will get it in two or three more try.

I think this too! Gaga is simply undeniable when music and acting is involved. I know people don't want her to "pigeonhole" herself into a specific type of role, but I don't see why that's a bad thing. So many actresses stick to what they're good at and just do that over and over again. It's smart. Joker: The ReUp can serve as continued proof she's a versatile actress and then Cabaret can be her pièce de résistance.
