Janet Jackson's entire Essence performance 

 

She’s BACK.  I don’t wanna speak too soon but it really feels like we’re on the verge of a comeback. She killed it at Essence.

 

It would be great if Black Diamond came out in Q4. Imagine how great that would make her 2022. Start of the year we had the documentary, mid-year she’s slaying these performances, and then we end the year with a new album. A dream.

The fact she incorporated an interpolation off "Lonely" from Rhythm Nation towards the end of Let's Wait Awhile to segue into I Get Lonely! 

 

I hope she actually performs that deep Rhythm Nation album cut on her next tour.

I watched like half an hour of the concert and she was fantastic  She looks amazing, the catsuit she was wearing looked great on her (Thank God it wasn't baggy) and she sounded good. She might not have the strongest voice but she's NEVER singing off key, last night proves it. 

 

Omg I can't believe I missed this! Janet recently tweeted an unseen pic of her and Michael. At least I think it's unseen? I've certainly never seen it and there's so few pictures of them together as adults. I'm emotional.

I just got back home from New Orleans last night and I honestly need to get my thoughts together more, but this was one of the best performances I've seen her do. And it was show #14 for me!

While it's nice, I wish the bonus DVD was a bluray instead as the Unbreakable era music videos + Made For Now (if they're included) would've been at least true high definition quality while the older music videos would've been decent high quality upscales.

I ordered this one, but still tracklist for cds or dvd are unknown?

This was her best performance in YEARS. I haven't seen her engage with an audience like this in such a longggg time and the mic was on.

Just wish her mic wasn't so low

Yes! She's never performed it. At the show, I could hear her singing the lyrics, but the acoustics were a little loud in the stadium and I didn't realize they also mixed the rhythm into that part also!

It's strange to think we have never had an album from Janet as a mother, considering she's been a mother for a minute now. Another reason I really want to hear Black Diamond - to see how motherhood has affected her music. We saw it with Mariah on MIAMTEC, Beyoncé on BEYONCÉ and Madonna on ROL. But I fear so much time has passed that we won't really get to see the effect of it on Janet's next album... 

Imagine if they were planning to release Black Diamond this year around the time of the documentary, but she’s been in talks to perform next years Superbowl and that’s the reason they postponed it to early 2023. I would be able to forgive the last two years of waiting if that happened.

 

But let’s face it I’m just dreaming and at the point where I’m making up unrealistic excuses for Janet because I can’t think of any other reason she wouldn’t keep a promise that she made to her fans 2.5 years ago.

If and it's a big IF Janet was to headline the Superbowl Halftime, why not just leave it for the 2024 year to mark 20 years since the infamous incident? hehe at least that would be the big bang her music career can go out on like she mentioned in her documentary.

Janet looked amazing on essence festival. Loved her outfit and she was in great shape. 

 

BTW, where is black diamond album/tour. Unbreakable was really good, actually. I am shocked she hasn't released anything from this since she was starting to promote it. ugh
