Oh wow delulu stans coming back with her music comeback 

 

Who on Earth is wishing for WDAMO (Hilary's Version) as her COMEBACK SINGLE a decade later? After the Chasing the Sun fiasco?

 

That version better be released with a little to no push. I want an interesting musical direction, not just her relying on nostalgia and the past. I don't want any hype wasted on another Lizzie-adjacent moment. The numbers are showing us people are willing to give her a (last?) chance to reinvent herself fully, and support her career revival from the new album to the Hulu series.

 

And she better not show up at a JoBros concert for her comeback performance. Matthew Koma, you better come through.

As fair and valid as the concerns are, we have to bear in mind that Hilary hasn't released music in over 10 years, and she needs to rebuild a presence across her demographic, the general public, as well as appeasing to new generations. Her team seems focused on wanting to regrow her visibility across social media, and as she has a pre-established legacy, utilising the nostalgia factor is the most effective route to help get her name back out into the world. As Atlantic is wanting to increase the streams of her discography, re-releasing a new version of a song she is most known for is going to gain traction and draw more attention to her musical comeback. 
 

What's different this time around is that Hilary is feeding into the nostalgia machine and is utilising it for visibility, whereas back in 2014, Andre Recke and RCA were trying to re-market her as a Disney star hoping to replicate the success of Metamorphosis after a 7 year break. 
 

And who knows, this new version of WDAMO might be in the same vein of the new music to come…but if the JBros appearance is happening, they're definitely performing the movie version, "sing to me, Joe" included.

We had nothing for years, let's enjoy it… surely she won't do Taylor Swift Numbers, she could also bomb if we consider her social and streaming Numbers; at least we'll got something new.

Yea that crosspost did wonders, I see it's at 58k now. She's almost at a solid 2m monthly listeners on Spotify too which is the highest I've ever seen it. Cool to see the hype growing in the form of those numbers

Apparently Joe Jonas has a liked a comment on TikTok suggesting that Hilary will be performing with the Jonas Brothers in Houston on October 19.

Sadly is not the Halloween show they are about to do. Imagine Hilary dressed as Lizzie, Joe as Paolo and Kevin and Nick as Isabella e Miss Ungermeyer! 
 

But I'm so excited about that possibility of having her at their show!

I'm now on the side of no re-records/releases, since I feel like that would overshadow the new stuff. A live performance of WDAMO will be fuel enough. I can see all the puff pieces/ articles now "Hilary Duff performs What Dreams Are Made Of for the first time since the Lizzie McGuire Movie"

I hope the HQ page can cross 100K followers over the weekend. Hilary should continue to plug it all throughout next week in preparation for what we're almost certain is happening on October 19.

That would be exciting! The growth the page has seen since their start is really cool.

Precisely why if they rerelease the recorded version after the performance, I can't imagine they would attempt to release new material until after the new year.

I love seeing Hilary Duff HQ grow, its a really smart move by her team. 
 

Re WDAMO being rerecorded, I think it can be a b-side to the new single but her team needs to pull off a Lady Gaga "Cant Stop the High" & "Kill for Love" move (available to be downloaded/purchased from a select outlet only before being released to the masses months later). I think that will kill 2 birds with one stone - build GP's attention to her via nostalgia while also pushing the new material. And once thats achieved, just put it out there for all to savour.

 

But anyways, the comeback seems more meticulously executed this time round. Her team is definitely giving us high expectations!

Will next week be the week we get something officially announced? I'm not gonna lie, the anticipation is SO exciting just knowing we're this close. 

 

Might be a stretch, but I feel like the teases we've gotten so far with the pink clouds and heart cake are giving Valentine's energy for some reason... Do we think a February album release is in the cards? 👀 I also wouldn't be opposed to an early summer rollout just in time for Pride, as long as we're properly fed.... 

And as fun as it is to speculate about the rollout and as much as I want it to be everything and more, just the fact that my original pop queen is unexpectedly coming out of retirement AND with the potential to see her live amongst other millennials like me I imagine (I never got to see her during my childhood) is something special that I won't take for granted

 

I've been thinking about what Matthew said, how this album is completely on her terms, getting to speak to her people (us?? 🥹) without any barriers... She really has something to say!! 

Okay last thoughts for now ...I do hope we get a non-cheesy empowerment anthem of some kind which is what the world needs tbh

 

Now that we know it's pop, what kind of sonic influences are we thinking it will have? Disco, dance, hyper pop, synthy/dreamy/bedroom, dubstep? (jk)

 

I've said it before but I personally think Robyn will be a big inspo (e.g. "Ever Again"), since she's a big fan.
