Her image and reputation has really suffered since 2020 so this is the best move

The move remix is nearing 200 million streams, currently 195 million. I find it fascinating how at the time of release this song went under the radar but it never left her spotify top 10, some audiences are clearly consistently consuming it. I assume it's a different audience than who regularly listens to her latin pop bops.

The problem with her is that she always stops halfway. It's crazy that it's been 2 years since she's released any music. Despite the noise, C,XOXO got a lot of positive attention that she could have capitalized on. After the Move remix, she should have done a few more collabs or just released a bunch of singles. She needs a good 1-2 years of putting out songs and performing to really build momentum.

did it tho? i feel like its turned into a big fan favourite and i luv it was definitely well received by critics but the tarring and feathering that it got on release left a bad impression overall, it's only in the aftermath that things have swung back twds her a bit? probably in the last 6 months idk but it's definitely felt like there's been a vibe shift at some point

a couple of songs from the album went semi viral on social media (without any results tho) and the only reason why the album was badly recieved on release day was the problem with features (mostly drake) + digging up old controversies. i feel like in couple of years it might be considered her best album by nonfans unless she released a smash album in the next few years.

i can see it being reappraised properly and that's definitely started but there was such a massive stink around its release - the reviews were genuinely vicious, everyone who's hated her for years really took the chance to stick the knife in - that i feel like it took a while for that to clear?

like, i like the move remix but it felt a bit like a backwards step to get things under control a bit rather than something you'd do if you had a bit more confidence in yr career.

but if there's going to be a real comeback then this is the time, things feel like they're moving her way now for the first time in years

She really should've toured some theaters in the US last year, it would do wonders in cleaning up her image. No US tour since 2018 is absolutely insane, and now it seems like the touring boom has passed.

Yeah things swung back towards the tail end of the era. A fair bit of viral positive tweets with clips of her performing June Gloom and Dade County Dreaming. I agree there's been a more vibe shift since then, but she will ultimately always have a solid contingent of haters, and she can't keep ducking them. The idea that she can wait long enough for the smoke to clear seems like wishful thinking. She has to face it head on. Push through the noise and rebuild.

I also hope she can really commit to her creative direction this time. It felt like she could only really go there partially with C, XOXO. Fully committing with that album would have meant no Drake features—or even any features for that matter.
