I don't keep track of album release dates, but it feels like we've been getting a new album every time she breaks up with someone

Honestly... it was obvious she would play safe this time. And I don't think it's a bad thing.

She experimented, tried to give something fresh and unique, and it was rejected by the GP...

Kinda reminds me of the general public's rejection of Impossible Princess, so then Kylie came back hard with Light Years.

Hopefully, Camila has a similar comeback.

CXOXO is my favorite album that she's ever released, and as much as I wish she continued going this route, it just won't happen after what happened to that album.

Let's hope she delivers safe bops that smash, so she can experiment in the future.

But she needs to understand that the rejection "C,XOXO" got was never about the music. It's about her persona. The internet loves to bully her because they feel like it's cool to hate her. People don't take her serious as an artist and it breaks my heart to even realise that.

Going back to her roots it's too safe and it might give them more ignition to bully her with the excuse that she doesn't have enough artistry because she doesn't stick to a sound and follows what's trending.

That's why I think insisting on the experimental sound would be the right move. She gained a lot of attention and some new fans with "C,XOXO". Her taking a risk was something people respected a lot.

The people who loved "C,XOXO" will be confused with the latin afrobeat sound. Going back to what's safe gives the impression that she cares too much about what the people that don't even like her think about her. It fees like she doesn't have enough balls to believe in herself as an artist.

And this is the worst timing ever to do a "back to basics" because all she needed was to build a small/more niche but loyal and dedicated fanbase, like Carly Rae Jepsen and Melanie Martinez.

She started teasing way too early, something must've been scrapped and they started over in February when she was back in the studio.

I am thinking the same thing, she posted multiple pictures with a cowboy hat, maybe she was going for a country sound and changed her mind? And now all of these new collaborators are announced, seems like she wants to do something like Tate McRae (Timbaland) but with a more upbeat pop edge.
