Darker hair would work for the rock era. Kinda like a black Betty boop. The Betty boop was originally based on a black woman, a jazz singer. 

 

I wonder if Beyonce is a fan of Alan Lomax. He's a historian of Af American music history. Black Betty was a work song and a reference to a whip or a vehicle taking black men to prison.  
 

Given the entire theme of Renaissance, Cowboy Carter were both political /racial and about reclaiming black art forms and spaces, it makes sense if she names the next album Black Betty

What movement will we have on stage left? The knees are locked and now the hair chopped…  
 

She should play with more hairstyles on tour like she did for the Formation tour, add in some braids, long ponytails, half up/half down… especially if she keeps that bleached color 

 

 

 

 

 

Or go bigger volume and texture with the length, I doubt she would go that dark but it would help introduce act 3

But in all seriousness, after the release of Renaissance she's become quite sloppy in terms of committing to her (musical) projects and I can't be the only one feeling this way. From the constant shenanigans at the RWT, to the Ren visuals fiasco, the lack of digital release for the concert movie, the incomplete CC vinlys, the change in art direction for the album and the months late coffee table book. She seems very indecisive about things lately. And it reflects in the overall presentation of her art in my opinion.

 

I feel like she is entering the stage of her career that Madonna and Mariah did after COADF and TEOM respectively. Where even though they still have some steam left they just aren't going at full speed anymore. And that's totally understandable given how long she's been at it and that she's done everything under the sun. I guess I'm just having a difficult time coping with it in real time? 
 

I absolutely adore both Mariah and Madonna but I was not as aware nor invested in fan culture and music at the time that was happening for them, so seeing this shift in Beyoncé's career makes me feel a bit conflicted with everything she does nowadays. Perhaps I'll look more fondly on it all over the years, who knows.
