So both BMS and THE were really pop friendly tracks, and definitely good representations of the intended genres.  What do we expect ACT III's lead to sound like if it's rock?  A big rock/pop track in the vein of Kings of Leon? Something more prince influenced, like Schoolin' Life with a more rock sound?  Maybe a big rock ballad?  Do we think she'll release two tracks ala CC, or one like Rennie?

 

So her hints at the rock influences are, and point to:

• a heavier, darker rock sound - (motorcycle, black hair from British Vogue)
• 90's grunge - (CR Fashion Book), 80's rock (The Bettie Page influenced look in CR Fashion Book - that revival hit in the mid 80s)
• Funk/Rock - the Betty Davis look (from her 1970s album - This Is It) - originally referring to Betty Davis with "davis in my bones", also the Betty Davis track on her sir davis insta video (They Say I'm Different)
• Funk/Rock/New Soul - the Prince Halloween look (referencing his 1980s Purple Rain and Apollonia), 
• 70s Rock/Folk Rock - the Betty Black tour (which may reference the old African-American folk song that was later recorded with blues and rock interpretations - most famously known as the rock version from the 70s that now has some racial implications)
• The blues/jazz references from the Ray Charles track playing with her insta video
• The Laisse-Moi Respirer song on her insta video which is a a definite nod to 60s rock

 

 

B'day was heavily influenced by funk/rock/blues as well with tracks like Green Light, Freakum Dress, Suga Mama - we know that Pharrell has been working with Bey, would you guys be here for a Rich Harrison comeback?  I think it would be interesting to see what they could come up with together now

It's wild to me that Gaga is doing all this, especially as a veteran. See, you don't have to sit on your ass when you release an album, even if you're almost 20 years in.

no but the fact in her press conference thing Gaga was like "I think you should all call Beyoncé up" to her fans when they asked about Telephone part 2 is sending meeee like good luck anybody talking to her  

 

Bey has the best music for me but my godddd I'm glad I like Gaga because this stuff is so great to watch and Bey last did this during self titled

I'd argue no for the sales or streams but it appeases the fans big time which goes a LONG way. I'm watching Gar's Mayhem conference right now and it's making me so happy. It doesn't take a lot to do one event 
 

I mean she went to Tokyo Tower Records and chatted to some fans for a side quest (am still mad I was out of Japan that day I would've gotten the train for her lmaooo) I just wish she'd do one televised/YouTube recorded fan thing like this

I don't know, I'm not good with streams and stuff. But she is giving her fans something more to enjoy.

 

To be honest I dislike these comparisons and there's no point in talking about Gaga in the Beyoncé thread. But I agree with whoever said that her album cycles feel so dry now and the fact that she's older and a veteran isn't an excuse. Maybe the tour will change things idk.

We know for a fact that it wasn't supposed to be act i, since that was COWBOY CARTER from the start. She changed it later. However, there are reasons that it would make sense that RENAISSANCE was supposed to be the last act: it's the most modern sound (if act iii is indeed rock) so the acts would be following a historical narrative, it has futuristic aesthetics, it's a celebration which could come at the end of the journey that she has started with COWBOY CARTER, it's when she becomes "a new animal", she ends it with "applause, a round of applause" which could mean that she's finishing her three act project and receiving an applause for what she's done, CC doesn't transition to Ren and probably a couple more. I don't see any reasons that REN was meant to be act ii. It doesn't make narrative sense.
