It's not an easy album to revisit imo. Between the length and the genre it's just not what we're used to coming from Bey (and lowkey not what we're looking for).
 

I think for most of her fanbase, the appreciation comes in the cultural impact and purpose of this album, as well as the lyrical content. 
 

But it's not an album you really bop to or put on your gym playlist really.

Yeah if it weren't for Bodyguard, Riverdance, 2H2H, and Tyrant I'd barely listen to this album and those are the least country songs so I wouldn't be shocked if others never made it that far. 

 

The album is wonderful and represents a lot but it doesn't have the best replay value. It feels slightly bloated in a way that REN was not (and allowed it to thrive without visuals).

Yeah, can we keep the public draggings to a minimum when it comes to Beyoncé this upcoming week. Like truly the reason why majority of y'all don't like Cowboy is because she didn't do sh*t for the era. But it is weird 

not because it's unnatural, but because we're so used to seeing her with lighter hair. I would even argue it's a big contributing factor to what makes her look like such a superstar. 

it's what set her apart from other black females from the jump. 
 

It's the same with Katy Perry, it's not their natural color, but it's what they're known for, so it's kinda jolting to see them with their natural color.

Edit: I think Katy actually looks great with her natural hair color if she didn't use the same exact make up she uses with her dark hair. Her hair and make up stay looking a mess though, regardless of what she's trying to give

 

At the end of the day, Beyoncé has never looked weird, or anything close to it, with dark hair…period

I also think it just doesnt work as well as a follow up to Renaissance. Even though it was a purely artistic venture, Act I might as well have been grown in a lab to specifically satisfy Beyonce's core fanbase. I mean, the entire point of the dance genre is that it's music intended to spark joy and movement.

 

Meanwhile this album feels designed to convince people outside of her fanbase that her voice is worth paying attention to. It's interesting and impeccable but also dense and heavy.

 

For what it's worth, I do think this album is hugely respected amongst the grammy voter demographics. It's just not exactly a project for her fans. 

 

And tbh, Beyonce hasn't had her fans in mind when making music since she released Self-Titled (or Homecoming). Lemonade, The Gift, Everything is Love, Renaissance and Cowboy are all totally driven by artistic vision, and sometimes those visions won't resonate with the people who are used to a very specific brand or style.

 

All that being said, I do hope for the sake of her legacy that she ends on a high with Act III. I'm thinking she will, because the rocky parts of CC are the best parts of the album.
