I know I joke about it a lot, but tbh I do love B'Day! It doesn't suffer from the musicality of it like I would say about IASF/some of DIL, but rather in the actual sound quality. The production sounds tinny and kinda harsh instead of full and rich like it wants to be, and even on the vocals it sometimes kinda sounds like it was recorded on an Azealia Banks holding a mic up to a megaphone-type setup. The short recording time is an essential part of her lore and highlights her passion and drive, but it also means it doesn't sound as clean as it could. 

Her albums always give us something new and fresh imo.

 

That's why she never regressed and other pop girls kinda went downwards.

Neither of those things seem like textbook mismanagement. If they are mismanagement, they surely don't deserve to be in a textbook. There's far worse things for an era than being vague about vinyl contents*. In fact, if you think she was selling her fans lemons by offering a vinyl with no details of its contents and no one would have bought them if they knew, then the "management" was correct because it ended up earning her 62,000 vinyls on debut week, more than she ever had before.

 

 

*I also just think it's not that big of a deal, and any fan who would be impetuous enough to purchase an album not knowing its tracklist or contents, before it's even out, are probably the same kind of fan who would love to own a first-edition, limited pressing of a historic record. It's just that people (including fans) love to have a reason to be mad at Beyoncé and take advantage of any reason they can find.
