But the monolith made for a more jaw dropping/memorable moment imo.

but then the rest of the time it's just... there. it took forever to rotate and there really wasn't a significant payoff — it could have just been a big square screen and that wouldn't have made the show any less exciting. 

 

whereas the Renaissance stage is almost as tall I think — I don't have the dimensions — but it is wide, gets used in full, has a screen within the screen in the middle, allowing for seamless changes to the staging and props like the inflatable giant Reneigh. it feels better utilized and executed as a concept.

Did we ever get any confirmation on if Bey was supposed to come down from the top of the Monolith?  I remember seeing photos showing a trap door near the top of the monolith from some news station.

 don't think there was a trapdoor at the top, it was mostly a ton of structural elements inside needed to rotate and slide open the monolith.

Do we have an idea what this possible spot in the monolith was used for at 0:52?  Is that the one used for Six Inch Heels?

Two things I love about this tour is that she decided to be her own opening act - has that been done before? Super creative. And she also seems more relaxed and playful than I’ve ever seen before, less machine and more human.

the renny stage is nowhere near as tall as the monolith. that was close to 100 feet tall. someone did the calculations but the FWT stage had a much larger footprint. that's why it feels so epic, because it looms over the crowd.

I believe she wanted to jump off the top like PYCM but Tina talked her out of it 

I just saw a video where Bey says at the end “until next time”… seems pretty indefinite to me.

hmm I'm not sure, the 6 inch performance was not that high up but it could be related to the mechanics of that performance, it's possible.
