Lemonade is the one project where I think the visuals in full are so key to the experience. Imo its still her magnum opus in terms of a full creative endeavour, and its locked away in the basement being completely forgotten and never to be discovered by new generations

I wish it was on Netflix!

 

They can purchase it though and stream it.  I have it on itunes I believe.

So I've been listening to this album for 4months but in order to view the visuals I have to buy the album outright even though the music is now old to me? Who does this benefit, is this an attempt to increase album sales? Because that film will not be seen by anyone apart of hard-core hive.

 

Even if she delivered an Oscar worthy piece, people are not buying buying digital albums nor are they buying individual films in 2022. Certainly not one by Beyonce of all people. She'd need to have A list cast and incredible reviews in order for that to have any traction.

If she wants more album sales she can announce the tour, let the film be accessible & do their job at introducing people to the album, whilst also making a push for more physicals and doing some actual promotion herself.

The film would have come out release week  in this scenario.

 

This is basically my attempt to merge Bey’s obvious preference for people owning/buying albums over streaming while acknowledging the reality that even most fans don’t give a damn about box sets or vinyls. 

Definitely having more appreciation for all the tiny and somewhat hidden details on Renaissance, the layering, the mixing, THE VOCAL ARRANGEMENTS, all the risks and the avant garde productions. An album full of surprises the more you listen to it.
But we still hate Beyoncé for not giving this album the love and attention it deserves. She acts like she isn’t proud of what she made. We know she is but show us.

Well, he's not wrong though. As a loyal fanbase, I too wanted a physical copy of The Gift & Homecoming. 

 

Also, I would like to remind that TG opened with 55K and HC if it wasn't for midweek release might opened with 90K. If physical copies were released, these numbers would be higher than it already have. It happened again with REN with the limited amount of stocks available thus lower the sales.

Limiting the accessibility will turn people off. If Dahmer/Squid Games were exclusive release, it won't go mega viral like it is/was.

That's the plan all along I think. I think there won't be Grammy/AMA performance either. The only promo it has will be Visual (a year later) and touring.

I mean I think comparing scripted tv shows to a collection of music videos is a bit apples/oranges, but I definitely see your point. Lemonade having a televised event is why the Hold Up scene was so notable.

I’m not ready to witness this on tour. 

We are so hard on Bey, but this album is back to #1 On Global Apple Music & #3 on US Apple Music.

 

Week to week - it is performing on par with Harry Styles who has the biggest song of the year, is on tour, and probably did the most promo this year out of every major act.

 

This album is stomping.

I would love Victoria Monét to be one of the tour openers. imagine hearing Experience & Jaguar live before hearing CUFF IT & VIRGO'S GROOVE... I have a vision.
