I loved Cuff It on first listen because it reminded me of 4

Church Girl I loved too though, it also reminded me of 4. It’s like Countdowns big sister.

And then POTS and Virgo took me to DIL

this is really what makes RENAISSANCE so triumphant to me. when people ask me "which one album would you take with you on a deserted island?" or whatever my answer is always HOMECOMING, because it has a bit of everything from her eras and sonic landscapes she explored, even "Top Off" and "Mi Gente" lmao.

when REN leaked, people really couldn't put it in a box — some were saying it's similar to The Gift ("Move," "Energy"), we have self-titled era bops ("Thique" is literally a leftover that they reworked), we have things that remind people of 4, B'day, DIL... I guess Lemonade isn't represented as much because it's an album that's extremely varied in sound, but we got Big Freedia and NOLA bounce influences back. this album really reminds us of a lot of her best work while being totally new.

Now the inclusion of one of her worst songs ever (auiym) makes sense as representing IASF

There!

You post wasn't quoted because it is a sentiment that echoes through this thread constantly, which I abhor. And my post ré-used your exact words, there was nothing passive about it.

Hoe!

And to that, I'd add that I don't ever insult B, I hate however when slight criticism of her decisions get turn into something completely irrelevant about dumb Spotify quotes, bad conjecture and telling fans that they should be "grateful" . I will call that out, I don't care. Just like I will check a ***** that adresses her out of line fast.

Whatever helps you cope with not having visuals yet.

If that was really a concern of hers (which I’m sure it’s not) she could literally just CGI/edit the visuals to make her look however she wants.

Realistically, this is probably why BIK took so long to come out. I made comments about it here in base but had to stop because people are so sensitive…but her body was heavily edited in BIK. That’s something that has continued this era. Take a good look at the cliquebait video, look at her running inside the MJ theater compared to the Tiffany ad.

People can continue to duck their head in the sand but I think it’s beyond clear something isn’t right. A whole side of her face is completely stiff, let’s not be delusional

That's nice.

I agree with the sentiment from the other pages, Move and Thique are real gems. I remember Move taking me a whole half week or more to get into but now, it's just butter. It's really good. And frankly, Grace callbacks in the background elevates the song so much, the "wow", "ahh" etc.

Be careful, you can’t state the obvious in here without some members throwing a tantrum :biblio:

And this is why Beyoncé doesn’t leave her house cuz if her “fans” are dissecting her appearance this much.. could you imagine the media and non fans.. :coffee2:

...anyway

why is this in my recommended videos on youtube today :dies: back when she was in her youtuber era

Nothing there is obvious. As a matter of fact, her cheekbones were moving : more pronounced when she smiled and less pronounced when she didn't.

In any case, that is her problem.

We saw her carrying her daughter two weeks ago and she looked fine. We also saw her face on the boat and she looked fine.

And the Kim comment is so out of line. Beyoncé is a stunning and exceptional woman, we saw her at her release party.

No shade to @Ari29but he's always fishing for Bey's body alterations. An edit of a video doesn't signal anything other than an editing of a video.

you really don’t have to imagine right now…look at any comment section where that video is posted.

I don't get what you want to show me with this picture, quite honestly but that doesn't mean I am right.

Both of us have no way of knowing it for certain so the respectful thing to do in the situation is to not dissect her looks imo.

And @Ari29, the fishing wasn't an attack, I mean that you think she had work done and always bring that to attention, probably used the wrong word. And I also never saw you disparage her for it.

The honest truth is its just speculation and it won't go beyond that. Nothing is obvious beyond her tatties and Ass getting a lot bigger. The reasoning which can be organic or potential fat redistribution but there's no obvious anything.

Watching black is king it was very clear that she was bigger and when she felt like hiding that like in Spirit, she done it in fashion. One thing throughout the whole of BIK that never changed was the extra fat on her arms, so its pretty safe to say there wasn't major alterations.

And no BIK took so long to come out because its literally filmed months after the Gift was released. All her visual albums had a minimum 6month production schedule but ST/Lemonade began filming long before the albums launched.

Spirit was filmed the week before the song dropped and the rest of BIK months & months after.

Edit: and what is that picture suppose to say??? :dies:

like that is one of the less notable looks on her. She was bigger and used more contouring to define her face.

I really don’t care what Bey looks like by the way, I’ll support her regardless. I’ve never supported her for the way she looks :chick1:

I don’t think I’ve even criticised her looks. I just stated that her overdrawn lips and fillers do her no favours, which was unnecessary of me but it’s also the truth :rip: That video also to me just looks inverted. I wouldn’t say one half of her face is paralysed :ahh: Her face is just asymmetrical and always has been.

See the video below:

Because the video is inverted, the asymmetry is more obvious. Stunning, of course. But there’s clearly asymmetry there, which becomes more pronounced if a video is inverted as it’s now how we’re used to seeing her.

That’s not misogyny or me hating, that’s me telling the truth lol.

there's a big difference between "stating the obvious" (that there may *allegedly* be editing on her body for a movie/videos where she's 90% naked—I really don't care, every artist's music videos gets edited frame by frame, not just Bey lol) and claiming "she hates how she looks because she's fat old and getting ugly, she's miserable, that's why she's hiding" and "she has to stop with the fillers, she's botched, she should change her surgeon, go to Kim Kardashian's."

emotional intelligence is hitting new lows on the internet, I swear. anonymity brings out the worst in people. when will we stop policing women's bodies? it's tired.

I remember some people saying Alien is too unique for radio. Like sure it's unique but thats even better. 25 years into your career you shouldn't really be trying to serve the stuff you served 15 years prior and trying to compete with the youth on twerk anthems. Stand out and make brave single choices which reflect your evolution...

This is why artists like Madonna had crazy long commercial success with reinventions that were unexpected & unique amongst peers with songs like Frozen a 6minute ballad that went number and became iconic. Bey had these moments with Haunted/Mine which would have slapped next to DIL/Partition and clearly defined ST as her dark/alt RnB era but she served XO/Pretty Hurts instead. Same with Lemonade where Hold Up/Daddy Lessons/6 inch all showed a unique side to her but she said play the only juvenile song on the album instead... I'm not coming for Sorry but Hold Up won in the long run... nor am I coming for All Night but its about to be outstreamed by Daddy Lessons and barely has a lead over 6inch.

So moral of the story, its good to show artistist growth with the singles versus always playing it safe.

Right?! It’s so disgusting.

Anyway before going to bake my sister birthday cake yesterday, I was talking about ranking songs.

Spoiler

I feel like a lot of songs that I already liked a lot, grew on me even more. I had this listening session in an almost transe state because I needed to get ready for bed and before that I meditate and I didn't want to stop the music and I kept saying to myself just one more song and ended up listening to the album like that twice. And I remember vividly listening to each song in an almost dreamlike state of mind and some new details appeared, and I had this internal dissertation inside my mind about each song and just how this or that elevated it, or how the change in melody there combine with the rhythm of the instruments (that was POTS and Virgo's Groove) just make ethereal, how it was genius to make the bass more resonant there, how the guitar just works in Cuff It, the angel singing in AS etc. Funnily enough just when I quieted my analytical mind, I was even more effortlessly analytical. It's the best listening session I ever had. Now I understand why people like to be high so much, every single detail appear more clearly. You just have to be in meditation state to get there though.

Anyway all that to say that I have 14 very favorite songs in the album. Although SR doesn't quite give me the level of the others most of the time.

And two that are OK : CI then AUIYM.

WOW, so well put.

I completely agree.

I keep saying that AS is her Hung Up because it has that dynamic type of chorus but it also showcases just how left-field, experimental she went as an artist.

Renaissance is the first time since she went experimental that Bey didn't put a security blanket in the album (Pretty Hurts, XO, Blue, Sandcastles, AN, BTINH, IWH, Start Over) and I hope her choice of singles also get bolder.

AS is a risk that deserves to be taken. Just like Hold Up, Haunted and Countdown needed to either lead their era or come 2nd. Because they show her growth. Ohh Mine! Oh Mine! How I mourn thy! Even the video showed her growth. That was her Frozen!
