Bey's branding ventures and side-things are so interesting to me.

 

She went hyper commercial with the brand partnerships from like B-Day to 4. L'Oreal, Pepsi, Coty for her fragrances, Vizio, Dereon, and so much more.

 

And then with ST - Lemonade (and the years on each end of both)...it kind of just abruptly stopped. 

 

Her brand became more raw, renegade-ish, and less needing/wanting of such partnerships. 

 

So, in a way, I find it hella ironic that most of the times we see her now it's brand-related. The fact she's dialled down the music output, promo, and general visibility only highlights this more.

 

Those Adidas and Tiffany contracts must be no joke. Cus for all her autonomy with her music career and shunning of the limelight, you can guarantee that not only will she do multiple of these campaigns a year, she kinda goes all out with them. 

 

BTW, this isn't negative at all. It's more just an observation. I'd for sure prefer music output to constant IVP, but I understand it's a way to a) stack major coin while not doing much and b) keeps her visible and is all about playing the content game. And content is the main currency nowadays.

I personally don't see her diluting her act 1 push with a simultaneous push for act 2. It's wisest IMO to keep it all neat. Act 1 is out now and she ought to come through with the Act 1 visuals soon. Rinse and repeat this for Act 2 and Act 3. With less of a gap between the music x visuals. 

 

Pessimistic as we rightfully are, she's a lock for major Grammy noms with Act 1. To not harm her chances and have voters shun voting for her because of the notion of there being "more to come", I think she should wait until the end of voting to announce/release Act 2. Nov/Dec. Get those Q4/holiday sales! Or Q1 2023 for a quiet window to dominate.

 

THAT SAID...

Aside from the Act 1 vinyls dropping in October (which could be an indicator of the visual drop), she'd be crazy to wait that long for the act 1 visuals. It'd almost be TG/BIK territory of ridiculous.

 

The way I see it, there's a limited window around release to capitalize on the initial hype (ideally now- late Sept MAX). Anything after is BIK-esque in the sense that it'll be welcomed but will have missed the window of having a chart impact.

Life has been received lol! And this ironically has me more hyped than the ITG trailer (which, outside of the teaser of the other videos, didn't give me too much).

 

I know it's a convo most won't wanna have or claim is problematic to have, but our girl has changed physically. Three kids, womanhood, and shifting priorities will do that. And as much as I embrace that for "Beyonce" the person, it has had me wondering what it would mean for the presentation of her in her output. Will the (type of) outfits change? Less dancing x movement? Etc.

 

BIK was a shocker for me because IMO it was her cementing Thique-once in her art. Vids like FYB.  Which, as someone who has stanned since the very start of her career, I observed to be a first.

 

With this latest Tiffany trailer (especially the runway one), she giving on all fronts. Fashion, sass, confidence, and (new) body. Everything is clicking in and complimenting nicely. If this what we're getting for this (as well as big directors like Mark Romanek), it's all looking good for the album visuals.

I don’tthink BIK is a great point of comparison for a future RENNIE film release because the music of the Gift was far less enthusiastically received in comparison with the music of Renaissance. I think if she releases the film a year after album release like BIK (and hopefully after release of Act ii) the news of videos to songs like ALIEN SUPPI and BMS and Virgo groove that have been really well received will draw more excitement to the release vs BIK

It's not exactly the same, but IMO the point sticks for the simple fact that it's tried and proven that Bey's ish pops out of the gate when there is a visual. At least pre-Renaissance. 

 

The Gift may not ever have been destined to slay-slay, but had BIK come with the album drop, that 1-2 combo will have ensured a certain level of success that it wasn't afforded.

 

There's no denying there has been a disconnect beyond her lack of promo. Outside of her strategic collabs, anything that didn't come paired with visuals didn't do much of anything (EIL, Top Off, The Gift, Black Parade). Note how Apeshit still managed to almost hit top 10 (#13)...because it had a video. People like to see Bey and she honed in on that for a long time to the point it was the only way the GP cared to consume her.  

 

It's why she/her team have seemingly gone out of their way with Ren to reset a little to claw back some of her clout as an artist that compete without an over-reliance on the videos. And it's worked. 

 

Edit: Dropping Ren visuals a year later would be one of the biggest misfires ever. Much like BIK, stans would eat it up, but there would be zero benefit commercially and in a way auto-limits any new hype around the overall music and the point of said visuals.

I think we/she really need not complicate things. 

 

Act 1 is out and Act 1 visuals should follow imminently. 

 

Act 2 drops whenever it drops and ideally comes with visuals (or at least a video for the surest fire single).

 

Act 3 (same roll out as Act 2 if there are any videos at all).

 

This all lends itself really easily to the idea of a Netflix series. Or at least something akin to how they organize their "seasons" of a show. She could just add the new "acts" incrementally.

Let's not go into hysterics. She put out a teaser so the videos ain't coming a year later lol. It will come later this month for sure.

It's now September 4th in Beyonce's new home in the middle of Croatia.

Had the same thoughts but she did move pretty well in BIK, like on My Power and Already.
